I bought all four of the sets (waiting for the Monster and Undead sets to arrive atm) and have used a number of the paints for a tabletop miniature and for a miniature Gundam model. The colors came out great and I got compliments on them from friends who saw them. Overall, I love the sets and definitely recommend them to any and all beginners like myself as well as novice and professional painters who share the hobby. Only complaint is that the little booklet that comes with each set (same booklet in each set) is easy to lose. The booklet is great because it shows you what colors are preferred to use on the miniature that comes with each set as well as a pic of what the finished product looks like. Losing the booklet is bad because the color reference also becomes lost. Perhaps the company should add those very pictures for reference on the page for the item like they do for the product itself in order to help those who lose the booklet. ... show more

    • good deal however paint bottles are half the size of regular army painter bottles
it is really a good deal even after considering paint bottles are half the size of regular army painter paints. given 8 of the colors are unique. Only non unique color are putrid slime and duergar metal which are disgusted slime and rough iron from the normal range. Even w/o the paint included i could have bought this only for the Drizzt miniature which is very rare, only other Drizzt mini is from legend of drizzt D&D game and looks inferior to the one comes free here. GF9 has sold a special edition mini at some point but it is no longer available. If you are painting mini's and know who Drizzt is you shouldnt probably miss. If you are a newbie, you could also get one of the army painter sets before this. i am dropping a star since paint bottles are half the size otherwise fantastic buy. ... show more

The product information states that this is "*Recommended to use in conjunction with D&D Adventurer’s Paint Set.", but that's a gross understatement. The instructions for painting the Drizzt figure recommend what colors to use, and most of them are colors from the Adventurer's Set. This set got me started painting, and luckily I had some other craft paints lying around to handle the gaps, but I think this set would be better described as an Expansion set or an Advanced set of paints. ... show more

As a new hobbyist to D&D miniatures I wanted a paint set that was high quality, but also made it easy for me to reference the palette of the source material. This set teamed with the Army Painter's D&D Monster Paint Set and the Adventurer's Paint Set got me started painting minis and models. I highly recommend this set to any enthusiast who wants a simple system to get started painting D&D or Pathfinder minis.
