  • Very entertaining

This is a wonderful and easy to understand game. We thoroughly enjoy playing this at the house.

  • Great game, terrible instructions
Edition: Grey
Overall the game itself is cute, fun, and very inventive. However some parts of the gameplay aren’t really explained very well and it has lead to a lot of frustration when playing because we’re constantly asking “What do we do in this scenario?””What is that supposed to mean?””What order do these things happen in?” Basically we’ve just had to come up with our own interpretation and have a trove of “house rules” for the game. So overall- Really wanted to love the game, got really frustrated with the game, now just making it up as we go. ... show more

  • Fun, retro gaming experience in a board game
Edition: Grey
Ever wanted to relive the glory days of retro gaming and dungeon crawling, but don't have a retro console? Then you need to get Dungeon Royale. It is a great throwback to the days of old with an art style very true to the times. In Dungeon Royale, you and up to 5 others take turns pilfering and plundering one of two Dungeons. The ultimate goal is to steal a stone from the dragon's lair, and let me tell you, he gets mad if you touch that stone and have not already killed him. Once you have the stone, you just have to survive long enough to get, all while making sure your competition doesn't steal it from you at the last minute. The gameplay is tense at times, but in all the best ways. At the end of the day, it's a game about plundering treasure, fulfilling quests, battle nasty creatures and slaying a dragon. What more could you ask for from a board game? The only downside is the manual. It is not the most coherent manual out there, but I have read worse. But, there are several rules and turn gameplay overview videos that are a great suppliment, and together they will have you playing in no time. ... show more

  • Good game but a little sloppy on execution
Edition: Grey
I am somewhat of a board game connoisseur so my wife got me this as a gift. The rules are a little confusing and they don’t give as extensive detail on some things like you would hope; there are some areas where we have had to improvise rules. But once we have our rules established, the game is pretty fun and has good pacing. Basically, you play as fantasy characters in a dungeon trying to score as much treasure as possible. You can attack enemies as well as steal treasure from opponents. There is a dragon npc that will attempt to hamper your efforts and attack you until you slay it. As you gain more treasures and kill mini bosses or other players, you do level up and get better stats and skills. My other gripe is that some of the art looks very simple. There are components of the game that look pixelated like they were from Legend of Zelda which is great but other components look very out of place. It’s a good game if you can get over the initial hurdle of the poorly explained rules. But I did like this enough that I also bought it for my brother as a gift. ... show more

  • Explore, pillage, battle, and run
Edition: Grey
I was very excited to unpackage this one. The box the game comes in feels like I shrunk down and picked up my old Gameboy. The nostalgia factor hits hard during the unboxing when you look at all the pieces and artwork. I feel like I had the unfair advantage as far as gameplay goes. I had looked up the rules and regs before buying this one, it was watching the gameplay that sold me on buying. The developers themselves have a video on the Gatwick Games Website that give you the rules and overview of the game. I also discovered some youtubers that go into even more depth with a couple playthrus (Fat Men Gaming if you want to look them up.) I've had a couple playthrus now myself and have had an awesome adventure every time. Last thing I want to add is I think they may be underselling the product, that box is packed with content. They even have an old school arcade looking high score gamecard that I will leave in pics above. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something new on game night ... show more

  • Fun Dungeon Crawl
Edition: Grey
This game is surprisingly fun. It takes a little time to learn the rules but once you get it the game goes decently fast. So many giggles and occasionally revisiting the rule book. This feels like an 8bit dungeons and dragons session where everything is a dice roll. I absolutely recommend this game!

  • It is interesting
Edition: Grey
Set up is pretty fast, quality of cards, dice, and the boards are nice. It might be a little hard to get the rules, but it's worth it.
