  • Great upgrade to my aging car receiver.
This Car Receiver is a great upgrade to my previous OEM system in my car. The installation was relatively painless (more on that later) and it works nearly flawlessly. It has a few quirks that is probably user error or outside it's control, so I'll list them below and you can make the judgement call for yourself. I'm not doing a specific pros/cons list, but mentioning all the things I have noticed during my installation and use of this product and letting you judge for yourself, because every car is slightly different, and your mileage may vary. For reference, my car is a 2012 Chevy Impala, and I installed the device myself, instead of bringing it to a company that would install it for me. I also use iPhone and Apple Carplay, so I am unable to review the Android Auto experience. - I think it goes without saying, but the touch screen is huge. Plus, you can angle the screen based off where your receiver is placed in your car, so it is at the best viewing angle. The only thing I can say that might be a downside to this is that you cannot angle it more left or right, only up and down. The touch control is not multi-touch, but for this use case it doesn't need to be. Responsiveness is dependent on what is being displayed. Certain aspects of Apple Carplay is a bit laggy, but that could be Carplay software being weird, not the product itself. If you aren't using Carplay or Android Auto, the proprietary software in the device has great responsiveness. - Installation is very simple if you have all the associated parts for your vehicle and know what you are doing. I was able to install this over the course of a couple of hours, and most of the time for installation was soldering the adapter I needed for my car together, which is unrelated to this device, but worth mentioning. - It has multiple different ways to connect your phone or audio device to the car. USB, Micro SD card, AUX cord, and Bluetooth. However, if you want to use the Apple Carplay or Android Auto features, you must connect it to a specific USB port that comes from the backside of the device. I do not have a specific way to make this cable look nice on my cars entertainment system, so is it is sticking out of the bottom of my vehicles center console. The USB in the front of the device also supplies power, so you can charge a phone or any other device that can charge on a 5V USB cable. - Apple Carplay is a little weird with this device, and I cannot figure out if this is a problem with the device or the software from my phone, but it should be worth mentioning in this review. If I'm using google maps with satellite view on, sometimes Carplay will hard crash and drop me back into the devices homescreen, requiring me to unplug and plug back in my phone. If satellite view is off, it works fine. Also, sometimes on first startup of the car, it will not detect that my phone is plugged in, and I have to re-plug in my phone for it to recognize it (this could be a problem with my cable or a handshake issue with iOS, so probably isn't this products fault). - Make sure anything slightly above or to the side of the area you are installing it at isn't important, because the screen will block your view of it. My car's passenger airbag/seatbelt light is blocked by the top of the screen. Thankfully the seatbelt's audible alarm still works, so I'm not bothered by this. - This is a problem with my car, but might not be with yours. I lost OnStar functionality after installing this. I could buy an accessory to fix this, but I wasn't interested in paying for it. I also lost media control on my steering wheel. Again, just needed to buy a 3rd party accessory to fix it, too lazy to do so. This is because both of those features were tied into my OEM receivers software, so I was expecting this. Overall, given all the small issues I observed, I would still go through with my purchase of this device. The larger screen helps a ton with making it easier to glance at my GPS navigation or simple music control. And the wide range of audio input options makes it super easy to find a convenient way to listen to music with whatever device you use. And the Apple Carplay/Android Auto support is the biggest feature of this device that I purchased it for. I will never go back to a vehicle without that feature. ... show more

  • Not perfect- Modern, simple, fantastic!!!! 4 stars for a reason...
My vehicle is a 2008 F250 Harley Edition... This is an Amazing update to the old stock crap and a great value. However...4 stars for very specific reasons....read on! This thing has an amazing screen on it, it looks modern and cool! It sounds great. The install was the same as other double din units, as far as how complex it was...so, pretty easy. This included install kit is pretty useless so I used one by metra that was made for my vehicle and it looks great and made things lots easier. The USB doesn’t disconnect from the back of the unit so the routing and install took some extra planning and care. I love how responsive the unit is, it’s fast and reacts very quickly when you touch it. It’s SO much better on this front than a lot of stock units including Honda. But.... I took away a star bc of 3 things... 1. Auto dim doesn’t work well. I hooked it to my dash dim and it will only kick the unit into night mode at 9v and higher, the blue lights do not dim with the dash control, they are always on bright. If you turn your dimmer down lower, sometimes it just kicks out of night mode. The threshold needs set lower. (FYI, I have a 2008 F250 and you just grab a dimmer line from another item like that is backlit. It’s any violet with gray tracer in the 250) 2. Night mode: the button lights are very bright, and don’t dim. Manufacturers need to stop doing this. It can’t be that hard to hook the internal lights to dim with the dash lights. 3. Backlight color cannot be changed, it’s always blue. All my other lights are green. This can’t be hard or expensive but it’s a pretty glaring oversight, if you ask me. Overall a great deal! ... show more

  • Good for the price, but couple software bugs, low res screen.
Good overall. The only complaint I have is the low res screen and lately my units screen has been going black when unplugging my phone from apply car play. Almost like it has a bug in the factory radio software. Turning on and off solves it temporarily.

  • Quality product
Product looks good in my 05 Yukon Denali. Touch screen is responsive, think I may need a different wiring harness for the Bose system, doesn’t seem to work properly. Overall would buy again

  • CarPlay on a big screen is a great experience
I bought this for the screen and the CarPlay. Both work well in my 2013 Jeep Wranger Unlimited. Only thing was making sure I had the right harness with CANBUS support for a factory amp. I would buy this multiple times over. Having a huge Waze map is amazing.

  • Badass stereo
Really awesome stereo! I have it in my 08 Sierra. The screen is HUGE! I can see everything and it works with my Apple car play. it’s especially good for seeing GPS. This is the first one I’ve gotten that has it and I’m super pleased. This works as well as one that’s probably $500. I’m extremely satisfied. ... show more

  • Great stereo system
I installed this in my 2016 RAM 1500 truck. Many people don't know, but Dual is made by Sony, so you are getting a quality head unit at a great value. Apple CarPlay works like it is supposed to, and you get none of the headaches from those cheap Android stereos that promise a bunch of features but are buggy as hell. If you are in the market for a good but inexpensive double-din head unit, look no further. ... show more

  • Needed a replacement screen sent
After a few months of use, lines appeared on the screen. Dual customer service sent me a replacement screen free of charge and it is now working great.
