My truck was smoking at start up, oil consumption issues, rough starts, etc. From start to finish, it took me 30 minutes to install!! Way easier than I thought. Fixed most of the issues I had instantly. Too soon to tell on others just yet. Truck no longer smokes and starts up great! This is the upgraded design and fit perfect. There is a tech bulletin about this from GM. They admittedly had a crap design of this valve cover on the driver side which would clog very easy and changed the design. I would recommend anyone that has a 5.3 pre 2012 (I believe) buy this now and change it before you have issues or if you have current issues. It's cheap and it is super easy to change. All you need is a 10mm socket, 8mm socket, and access to youtube for video directions/tips. Your local parts stores may have them but they will charge you $180. This is the same exact material and design for a fraction of the cost. And it comes with the gasket, the mounting bolts and grommets. I did not use the gasket maker that came with it.     • Fixed smoke on startup due to original valve cover design
I had horrible smoke on startup on my 2006 GMC Sierra 4.6L. with 220k miles. This easy valve cover swap fixed my issue! My spark plugs were very nasty because of the old valve cover oil issue also, so change those too!

Upgraded part which prevents burning/leaking oil as PCV valve is integrated into valve cover. Install was straightforward and performance has been excellent on my 2006 Chevy Silverado LT.

    • pvc orifice.
valve cover was of good quality, gasket fit a little loose, so i applied some of the sealer that came with it, to keep it from falling out of the valve cover. however the pvc orifice was smaller than the orifice in the factory valve cover. so that had to be drilled out to match the size of the factory pcv orifice. once that was done and the shavings cleaned out, the cover installed, engine is running grat with no leaks. ... show more

My wife has a 2006 Chevy Silverado. About a month ago it started smoking bad upon startup. That can be serious. But i was doing some reading and saw where this valve cover (driver side) pcv will clog up under the cover and cause smoke upon cold startup. For the price (less than 50 bucks) I gave it a try. I installed this cover in about 45 minutes, changed the oil and let her drive it. This fixed the problem! It doesn't smoke at all now. I wonder how many people spent hundreds on a repair when this was the issue the whole time. ... show more
