This is a well-made drill press vice. The body is cast and machined for a flat bottom and smooth rails for the clamping mechanism. My favorite feature is the quick positioning button that, when pressed, allows the jaw to slide to fit the piece being held. That saves a lot of cranking the jaw. The screw mechanism is looser than it would otherwise be, but tightens up nicely when gripping the piece. The body and jaws are heavy enough for use with wood or metal, including steel. The slots in the body allow for plenty of ways to bolt it to my drill press platform. My drill press slots are too wide for the vice slots, so I either use the U shaped cutouts on the sides or mount the vice diagonally. The 4 mounting bolts are M10 x 50, 8.8, equivalent to 3/8 x 2, grade 5, a step up from common bolts. This is a most useful accessory to my drill press.

I already had a large vise in the main/upstairs part of my shop but often need one in the lower/garage part. Using my large one means going outside carrying materials, sometimes in the rain, to make some quick cuts or some drilling. In the Winter I do more in the main shop area so moving my vise to the underside would be even more inconvenient. With this vise mounted to my work surface in the garage will save me a lot of time working on small projects. Now that I'm older arthritis in my hands and wrists makes it difficult to hold material securely while cutting and drilling. I've been using c-clamps and other similar tools to hold the materials but it isn't always ideal. With the quick release of this vise that becomes a fast and simple way to secure the materials. Great product. Great value.

As my title states: BOLTS ARE NOT INCLUDED. Not yet used. First impressions: Has a nice heft. The quick adjust push button is brilliant. It's much bigger than I imagined. Seems built to last. Planned first use: I bought a special tire mounting tool so I can install solid tires for my wheelchair. The tool fits in the jaws of a vice and holds everything steady. After looking at typical vices this one seemed to meet my needs. Now only if those pesky bolts were included. 1 star lost due to missing pieces. I was going to do 1 star gone for each piece missing. 1 star for accuracy. I removed 1 star for each missing piece. Advertisement/this product's description is not accurate. Value for money: Since I have to buy bolts to replace the ones missing brings down the value for money.

This is my second 3 inch drill press vice. The first was from a different manufacture. Quality is on par with other vices in this price range. The jaws do have a little slop in them, but you can tighten that out. I gave this five stars because it it exactly what it says it is and at a price point where you get the quality you would expect. A few nice features are: 1) included mounting bolts 2) a quick release button so you can get it in rough position quickly and 3) I like that the clamp mechanism has the traditional slide on it along with having a six point hex nut if you wanted to use, lets say, a power too to open and close it quickly for some sort of project where you would be opening and closing it many times in a row.

This vise will come in handy as I do more power carving. While it comes with bolts to mount the vise on a bench, I plan to use it clamped down, so I can move it to different surfaces. The vise is well built. It is strong, and take a beating. It runs smoothly, and I had no issues opening or closing the jaws. The jaws hold objects securely. I really like the quick release button. This allows me to operate the vise in the middle of a surface and only spin the handle 1/2 a turn max. The 3" capacity is great for my needs. I can fully recommend this vise.

Characteristics: 1. Nicely machined and solidly made. 2. Smoothly- and non-sloppily-engaged Acme threads on the clamping screw for reliable tightening. The clamping screw's T-handle is integral with the screw, eliminating the possibility of a loosening handle (which I unfortunately experienced with a relatively-inexpensive1990s-vintage Chinese duel-cross-feed vise.) 3. Grade 8 socket head cap screws fasten the jaws. 4. Jaws are NOT precisely parallel-aligned on top for precision work, but probably not to be expected on this style of vise. The jaws are, however, adequately parallel for non-precision work. 5. The steel quick-adjust button on top of the vise is solid and works very well. 6. Good supplement to my existing multi-side-precision drill-press vise which -- though having excellent alignment characteristics --- is unfortunately problematic to clamp to the table of my drill-press and has a 2 inch-or-less jaw opening. This tool solves my clamping issue with the other vise --- and comes with clamping screws to boot --- and has at least an extra inch of jaw opening. My only gripe about this tool concerns description inconsistencies on the Amazon webpage: • I found the following inconsistencies in listed jaw opening: 3” (page title), 4.33” (supplementary photo), 2.95” (supplementary photo of vise with dimension lines), and 2.5” (in “About this item”) • I found the following inconsistencies in width: 5.1” (photo of vise with dimension lines), contextually at least 7” (an OBVIOUSLY much larger vise in the photo showing a person drilling a vise-mounted aluminum extrusion using a hand-held drill) Per my physical measurements of the received product, the jaw opening is indeed about 3 inches and the overall width is about 5-1/2 inches. I really like this little vise and would give it a five star rating if not for the inexcusably-inconsistent dimensional information on the Amazon webpage, for which I'll deduct a star.
