  • Get the extension tool...
Dremel is improving but you should still buy the extension tool since it makes a lot of what you'll use this tool for better/easier, it gives you more dexterity allowing you to hold just a marker size thickness as opposed to the entire large Dremel tool itself. It comes with the basics as far as tool bits goes in a nice organized container but Dremel chose to put the tool itself in a nice plastic case as opposed to using the box it came in for past models. Same adjustable speed for what you're doing, I can't recommend this item enough for the diy/er, you will find many uses for it and most hardware stores sell the individual various bits/attachments and or kits depending on your needs. You'll literally wonder how you got on without it for all these years. It's more powerful than you might think too, I've never used it at top speed for anything, I like the hanging hook especially when using the extension. It's just a great tool to have in addition to all the other tools you have, it takes care of the small stuff. ... show more

  • Low speed doesn't work
Below 4 speed, it doesn't seem to work much. Maybe after going Max speed for a while, then you can go low speed but even then it's super easy to stop it entirely. 🤷♂️Can't even go at polishing RPMs with this device.

  • Why did I pay for the name if the name lacks quality?
I have to start out by saying that this was ordered on Amazon and never arrived (sold and shipped via Amazon). They have been contacted and are absolutely taking care of it. I had gone and purchased it at the only place that had one in stock- a Home Depot about an hour away. While the supplier is different, the product is exactly the same. Alright. This little guy. This one I am super mixed about. I purchased a Dremel branded rotary tool. I have several different rotary tools that are MUCH cheaper and MUCH more powerful. I also have rotating shafts that follow suit on price and power. That aside this one in comparison is probably one of my least favorites. I affectionately named it betsy as it's about as helpful as an old milk cow at times. This one absolutely DOES NOT like to be handled any way but straight. Very rigid and stiff with an awful gravelly growl if you move with very little pressure. The dremel or rotary tools needs to be higher than the rotating shaft. I have seen people explain to place the rotary tool flat on the desk and work beside or lap level just below....I'm not seeing it. The idea of the rotary shaft addition to a rotary tool is amazing and I absolutely support that. But this one is worse than the cheap additive that came with a harbor freight bench grinder with the shaft added on the side (great idea, but HF lacks quality. The shaft is the only redeemable part on that). That shaft says it won't rotate to the same specs but I have had it pretty close to 56,000RPM and it was still cruising along. So consider that when you buy whatever you choose to buy. I would rather work with a flowing rope rather than a rigid icicle that sounds hollow with angry bees anytime you touch it. The idea is fantastic....the execution is lacking. ... show more

  • Cheap head unit.
I won't be buying Dremal products anymore. The head unit on this is cheap and weak.
