  • Fun game and came in a decent time!
This game so far is great. I haven’t beaten it yet but it’s entertaining to say the least. There are times you will feel amazing as you get the enemies out of your way and then there are other times when you will be overpowered and dispatched of rather quickly. DD2 is a slow burn. Fast travel works not like a traditional open world game but with Oxcarts. This Oxes are slow so the ride to the town will be a slow one but you can press Triangle on PS5 to doze off in the cart to speed up the process of whatever town you’re going to. You may be interrupted by monsters trying to destroy your cart but they can be gotten rid of with pretty good ease. Take it slow and don’t rush it. That’s the best thing you can do if you do. Anyway I recommend it to anyone especially those who love action RPG’s. ... show more

  • High Quality Dark Fantasy RPG
One of the better games of 2024 and one of the better entries into this genre in quite some time. Surely if you enjoyed the PS3 original you’ll love this, but there’s no need whatsoever to have played that previously. This game features a dark fantasy setting with action RPG combat and no shortage of side quests and things to do. It isn’t 200+ hours like Skyrim and The Witcher 3, but there’s lots of meat on the bone here. If you’re considering purchasing this you’ve presumably played games like this before and this is probably better than most of them. Please note, however, if you’re buying this as a gift it probably isn’t suitable for younger children in terms of content, difficulty and mechanical complexity. ... show more

  • A great game with some odd choices & optimization issues
I will jump out in front of some of the issues that people have recently been complaining about. I do not condone nor endorse microtransactions for a full priced game so I do not much care for Capcom adding these weird superfluous ones. having played into the game for a number of hours now I can say its even weirder that they exist at all as none of them give any real advantage nor really serve a purpose. What I mean by this is anything they can do/are already exist in the game and can be found, even the character editor items and fast travel. If there has been any word of buying being the only way it is plainly false. It is part of a strange trend in Capcom games I have noticed since Monster hunter world and Resident Evil 2 Remake, they add in weird microtransactions for things you unlock in game anyway...and not even in the weird grindy way some games do, just in the play the game and get some achievements way (like the good old days lol). It genuinely to me feel like they are added on last minute to please someone higher up in Capcom or investors to give the illusion of monetizing, but that is purely speculation so take that thought with a grain of salt. Onto the game itself: Graphically: like many games Capcom makes it looks excellent, the environments character models, monsters, animations all of immensely high quality. The performance on the other hand is much less so. Out in the world it is less noticeable but can chug a bit here and there. In cities and towns for some reason I have noted the most significant performance drops, character pop in low poly models. Its odd but not gameplay/immersion breaking in my 20+ hours. I just genuinely hope they can address it in future patches and wish it had more time in the optimization oven. Gameplay: If you like Elden Ring getting blended with Monster Hunter and with a touch of Devil May Cry then this game will feel excellent for you. It is challenging initially as the gameplay is unique and requires you to learn its rhythms, like prepping for your trips, finding the right loadout of pawns for what your doing, weight management and what combat style feels good for you. The AI for the pawns is pretty great which surprised me, most Ai allies are ho-hum at best, and they have way to assist with traversal that surprised me. In general the show stoppers are when you find a big beastie in the world and throw down, they are very satisfying and challenging fights. beyond that the exploration is immensely satisfying, I hold it comparable to Elden ring and Botw/totk in quality. Story: So far the story is fine I can't say it is game changing or the deepest, but spoiler free here. Its pretty alright, it feel more like a vehicle for getting the fun gameplay loop going. Overall it is a fun game with challenge to overcome, exploration to do and your own stories to craft in your expeditions/conquests. But honestly I'd say give it a month or two for Capcom to iron out some of the technical issues before buying. After they fix the technical stuff more I'd say its a must buy. ... show more

  • Great Open world RPG
I never played the first Dragons dogma but I absolutely love Dragons dogma 2 Huge open world Amazing graphics and Definitely the best character Creation system I’ve ever seen in a game also the pawn system is fantastic I love how you can create your own pawn just like you create your main character and it’s awesome how you can recruit pawns from other players as for the micro-transactions I despise them and when I heard dragons dogma 2 has them I was worried but thankfully the micro transactions are completely optional everything can be unlocked through gameplay So in this rare instance the micro transactions are not an issue Overall Dragons dogma 2 is the best RPG Released this year so far it has great graphics gameplay and an amazing character creation system Highly recommended ... show more

  • Downgraded sequel
They took all the worst parts of it's predecessor and accentuated them, then took out the best parts of DD1/DA. 1. It's just a medieval running simulator with some random story that is never really explained. 2. No reliable access to fast travel until you do the "true ending" even then you're at the end game and the final "bosses" are so easy that you get the best weapons/armor if you DON'T KNOW what you're doing. (You'll get more WLC by doing stuff wrong and having more final shrines) 3. You have a "loss gauge" which goes down everytime you take damage, lowering your max health until you rest again. 4. Port crystals return to your inventory on Ng+. 5. Mobs randomly focus you and kill you immediately if you're unlucky, this isn't even a skill issue as you can get knocked down and literally gangbanged by enemies. 6. The pathing for NPCs causes so many issues it's WILDLY annoying. Need anodyne cast? Wait until your pawn runs around this predetermined path, then they will heal you, nvm you're dead. 7. Any enemy that can fly, will literally run away from the battle leaving you with a bunch of damage, your loss gauge decreased, and you get NOTHING from the battle. No loot, no xp, no do, nothing, terrible mechanic, especially early game. Under no circumstances would I ever recommend this game, not only is it actually just boring, it caps at ~30fps. What game on this gen on consoles caps at 30fps???? Unreal that Capcom actually stands by this as a product. ... show more
