I was a little wary when these arrived, as the leather is very stiff and I feared they would be uncomfortable. To my surprise, they are quite comfortable, and I've been walking around in them for several days now. They do require some breaking in -- while I didn't get blisters the first time I wore them, it did take me awhile to get used to the stiffness. There is also a slight narrowing at the toe, which felt a little tight at first because of the rigidity of the leather. Although the usual recommendation is to size up on a boot, I had read in other reviews to stick with my true size (7.5 or 8), because these are too large if you go up. I definitely agree with that assessment, since a larger size would've been much too roomy -- right now there's plenty of room for me to wear a thick sock and not have squished feet. I also like the arch support on these. I do a lot of walking every day, and unlike the hard heel of my old boots, these have a nice cushion that absorbs the impact of hard surfaces. My feet and back are not tired or hurting after a full day of wearing these! Plus, they look sleek too.

I needed a black leather shoe with no color or visible logos for my uniform at work. My work requires me to travel a lot so I wanted a shoe that would also be my go-to daily wear for civilian clothing (and still look cute as heck). Look no further! This boot is perfect for what I needed. It looks incredibly professional with business casual/uniform and I’ve gotten lots of compliments from coworkers…but it also looks badass and so cute in my daily shorts and t shirt or goth attire! Best of both worlds!!! I am okay with how it feels with its standard insert but It doesn’t have much room to add your own or add any cushion. I got a size 8 womens and I am usually a true 8 but sometimes a 8-8.5 in boots. It’s a perfect size for normal socks and my foot slips in super easily. However it’s very very snug with thicker socks or when I tried my own insoles. Would recommend a size up if you do that. I normally wear insoles with shoes but as stated, it’s too tight to wear with these. However, I have not experienced any problems or noticeable pain with standing all day in these. I wear them almost daily and walk quite a bit. I have scuffed them up and spilt things on them but a quick wipe with a rag has them looking like new. I love Dr. Martens (own quite a few pairs) and expect these to last years. There is no stitching on the boot and the sole is a great size, not super large or bulky like their classic boots. There is a tag at the top of the boot with the Dr martens logo but it is hidden underneath any standard sized pant. I’m very happy with my purchase.

I bought these boots for a trip to the East coast! Lots of walking, lots of inclement weather (rainy) and these held up well and were (mostly) comfortable. This is my first pair of Docs and I've been a ladies size 9 in every shoe I've ever purchased since I was about 13 years old (I know) so I brushed off the complaints about these boots needing half sizes and purchased the black ones in a 9. Even with thicker socks, the width and toe box are a little roomier than what I would typically want to tolerate. I bought a pair of insoles in the hopes that that would fix it, but they made the boots too snug in the toe box area; I'm still recovering from bruising the outsides of my toes via a vigorous day of hiking around D.C a week ago. So no insoles but with the thickest socks I can find is how I've been wearing them since then. Despite the fit, I love these boots and the way they have a slightly more masculine profile that can easily be softened depending on your outfit. They're definitely going to get a ton of wear this cold season! 5 stars because I do have narrow feet and the fit could totally be due to that.

I had this boot in the beautiful cherry red color in my cart for a long time hoping the price would decrease enough so I couild buy it without feeling guilty. It did! When I first opened them my first thought was, wow, they look even better in person! And they are a truly beautiful looking boot. BUT, it took about 5 or 6 wears, plus manual stretching of the boots, plus stuffing with paper, plus wearing a protection over my shins, to finally break these in. Now that they are broken in they are so comfortable! They are the perfect size but do fit better with a heavier sock due to the roominess in the boot. I just feel these are going to get better and better as I wear them. I like to wear them with boot cut jeans, but they look great with slim jeans too, and I am pondering wearing them to a casual Christmas party with a skirt and sweater. The color of these just makes the options endless! I am very happy with my purchase.

*Hope this helps others who are on the fence about buying these boots!!!* - I just got the black Flora Doc Martens boot in the mail, 2-day shipping was on-time. The box looked like it was from the company and the boots themselves looked brand spanking new. I double checked the item # in the boot and on the box and it matched with the item # on the Doc Marten website, sooo I think these are real leather. The Amazon sticker, however, says that these are "Vegan", and I kind of doubt it (it also said Vegan under my checkout, but I took the risk anyway). I ordered a size 9/UK7/EU41. I normally wear size 9 for everything, very very rarely a 9.5. These could fit a 9.5 and would be suitable for a wide-size foot. I don't have a wide foot, so I'm going to wear these with thick socks. I wouldn't wear these with sporty-cotton/spandex socks or dress socks since my foot would probably slide around. That said, I think if you are a size 9 and ordered a size 8 it would probably be snug enough to wear barefoot or with thin, regular cotton socks, I guess it just depends on how you want to wear these. Oh, I think it would be a good idea to order some of the special Wonder Basalm, or some other leather conditioner product since these seem like they'll begin to crease very easily. I barely walked in them and I could start to see the crinkles setting in. I'd like to do what another reviewer suggested and bend these around a bit with some leather product and a hair dryer (great idea). Overall, 4-stars because of sizing, I'm still on the fence about sizing down to an 8. We'll see. *** UPDATE: So, I went ahead and ordered the size 8/UK 6. They were way too snug for my liking. The size 9/UK7 were too loose, particularly in the ankle and heel. I'm going to be returning both boots since neither fits the way I'd like. Call me picky, but I'd prefer to have a boot that fits perfectly for paying this much money! When will they start making half-sizes?! Anyway, I think the quality and construction of the boot lives up to Doc Marten's reputation. Also, both pairs were the leather, not vegan pleather. I took off 2 stars for the unsatisfactory sizing.
