I've seen some bad reviews of this style of boot, but I wouldn't take them seriously if I were you. Some people find the ankle opening too tight and the boots too hard to put on-- yes, the opening is tight but that's what shoe horns and boot jacks are for. The fit is typical Doc Marten-- order a size up if in doubt. In terms of comfort, yes, you have to break them in. They are stiff leather boots, that's how it is. They are sturdy and well made, with a nice slip-resistant sole. And they look fantastic. I have another pair of Doc Marten chelsea boots in a plainer style and they are just nowhere near as cool as these. Ultimately, if you're a Doc Marten fan you'll love these, and if you're a Doc Marten hater you will have all the typical problems people usually have when they don't like this brand ... show more

Sizing issues (men's size 10). I've no doubt these are quality boots, but they were almost impossible to get on, even after stretching the foot opening overnight. When I finally did get my foot in, the fit seemed to be correct, so going one size up isn't feasible.

My wife talked to me into buying Doc Martin’s after her love for them and these shoes were so stiff and so tight they were absolutely uncomfortable. I bought another pair of docs and absolutely love them, but not these.

Size 10 was recommended if you're a 10.5 but it's way too small, i would go up to next size instead of going down. Looks great at least.

Could not get them on my feet. They lack a zipper and the "expanding" opening at the top does not expand enough. I would consider that when if you purchase.
