I like this brand of hair color conditioner. I compare my experience to my long-time use of Aveda Clove -- they discontinued Aveda Clove and I was quite sad about that as it was my 'go-to' for those times I wanted to add a boost of color to my not-dyed (natural-color) hair. However, I did a lot of research and gave a lot of thought and read a lot of reviews before I picked dpHue, as I wanted something close to Aveda Clove, or even better. In some ways this is better than Aveda Clove in that it puts much more shine and body to my hair. My hair looks gorgeous the day of, so I like to use it if I am going out or have something special to do. I have medium-dark brown hair with some grey sprinkled throughout. This hair conditioner adds a deeper tone to my hair and gives it beautiful body and bounce and shine. It tones down my greys so they aren't as noticeable but of course doesn't cover them completely - but I have a lot more dark hair than grey so that helps. Also a positive is it does not turn my hair reddish - that's why I picked the cool instead of the warm. The color actually beats out Aveda Clove in that Clove sometimes could look a little reddish or a little too dark. I only left this on so far anywhere between 3 minutes and 5 minutes. I used a cap while in the shower so I didn't accidentally rinse it away. I am going to try leaving it in longer to see how my results are now that I know it doesn't cause damage or make my hair too dark. I wish it lasted longer but I can't remember if Clove lasted longer than this brand or not. It'll last through maybe 4 shampoos, maybe. The shine and bounce really only last the first two shampoos while the color gradually but quickly fades over the next few days. But it is gentle enough to use frequently if you choose to do that. I use it maybe once a week or every 2 weeks. And, perhaps leaving it in longer will give me longer results. I will order again. And in fact, I really want to try the clear dpHue to see how it works in my hair. It's a little pricey but you often have just what you pay for so I don't mind paying more for quality.

I was hesitant to try this on my daughter’s hair after an attempt to kill the brassiness from her dark blonde/light brown hair. This stuff was great! It is important to saturate & section off the hair. She has an over abundance of hair & we used close to 1/3 if the bottle. I don’t think we will need as much next time as we really had a big task of masking the red tones. Highly recommend. A bit pricey but it worked great.

This product changed hair texture O_O ! My hair became static prone and now feels like synthetic hair( wig) , just horrible. I have to use a ton of silicon to calm it down, it is unmanageable and it's been almost 6 weeks since I used this product. If you have fine hair DO NOT USE THIS ! You will end up with "troll hair" : ((( I never experienced anything like this in my life.

Let me start by saying that this will not cover your gray hair. No semi permanent dye that only sits on your hair for a few minutes can do that. I have tried them all. But it does tone my hair beautifully and leaves it looking shiny and moisturized. I have been really impressed with all of the DP hue products I have tried for toning. My brown hair can sometimes turn orangey. I color my hair with a mixture of henna, indigo, and Amla to cover the grays, but yellow and orange tones come in strong sometimes. It’s hard to keep your hair toned exactly right all the time when coloring or going in the sun. This is a great quick fix that works better than blue tone shampoos. I would say you get exactly what it says: cool medium brown. If you’ve got an ash brown color, this is one of the only brown toning conditioners I have ever found that actually adds cool tones. So many brands I have tried add too many warm tones. I’m only giving it four instead of five because it doesn’t condition my hair quite enough on its own. I have lots of fine wavy hair and I have to condition afterward with a thicker conditioner to get my hair properly moisturized.

I was influenced to try this for gray blending and boy does it work nicely to cover my resistant grays! The package states not for covering grays but it actually does! I washed my hair as usual and after combing out I began brushing the medium cool brown on my gray roots starting with my normal part line. I focused the product on my top section and then around my forehead and sides. I left the product on for 30 mins and then did a cool water rinse, air dried for 15 mins and then a blow out! Wow! Beautiful coverage. I can only see a shine of gray towards the back where my crown is which is most resistant. I am 90% gray if I don’t color my hair permanently. Love the results! What a nice fix in between professional visits. No mixing and so easy! I think I will be able to get 10-12 touch ups from one bottle!! Worth it!

Hear me out… I’ve used another (more affordable) version of a color depositing gloss before. But, I stopped using because I found out they weren’t cruelty free. This one seemed like it would do really well, but it’s more than double the price. So in my mind it should work better, right? But, with this one, the color fades much quicker and the glossy effect only lasts through the next two washes. It looks beautiful right after you use it, don’t get me wrong. But I want something that lasts at least a week or more before needing to use it again. If you do plan on getting this, note that you absolutely have to wear gloves while applying this and keep your hair off your neck and shoulders because it stains SO quick! Plan on drying your hair with a towel that can get stained as well. And plan on cleaning out your shower afterwards. Last note - it doesn’t color grey hair in the slightest. I know it’s not meant to, but I was hoping a little color would deposit into my greys so that they blend in better until the next time I dye my hair. Hope this helps!
