I've tried scent booster beads in the past and although I loved the way the laundry smelled afterwards, the scent didn't last long enough to make the continued purchase worth it in my opion. We went out to dinner with some friends recently and they both went on about these Downy Fresh Protect Beads. Weird topic of conversation maybe, but my friends husband thought they were the neatest thing. My friend sent me a pic of the one they use and I decided to give it another go. For some laundry reference, we have a lot of athletic clothing so I don't use fabric softener or fabric sheets, preferring dryer wool balls instead. I also use a laundry detergent that is fragrance free and helps with skin sensitivities. That may seem odd that I would purchase a product like this after saying that but my issue isn't with fragrance. I love a good laundry smell but a lot of sensitive products are fragrance free. My problem is that I have mild ezcema and some products can irritate or cause a flare up of that. I'm so happy that this one does not. I have been using these beads for a little over a week now and our laundry smells fabulous. The scent lingers much longer than the beads I used before. You can use a little or a lot depending on how fragrant you want your clothes. I go somewhere inbetween. It doesn't cause any staining and I'm not worried about it causing a negative effect on our sportwear. Best part, as stated above, no sensitivities to it! Yay! We love the smell of this for our laundry. Only scent wife isn't allergic to, all the others made her itch. Smell stays in for a long time and makes our clothes feel so fresh.

Can't beat the April fresh smell, it's not too strong, but best of all it truly removes odors from clothes. I use for towels and my husband's clothes. Keeps him happy. I tried the new liquid type they recently came out with and he prefers these beads over that, says they just smell cleaner.

The best thing about amazon is all of the sales that they have. I especially love addon items! I believe when I bought this it was an addon item. I know you have to buy 25 dollars worth of products in order to have addon items at the price listed... But who can resist addon items. (Even though I know that they are designed to make you spend more money!) *smiles* Alright now to the review. I love the smell of this stuff. In fact the whole invention of it is wonderful! The reason why? Because I now use less soap in order to get that great fresh laundry smell. I absolutely love when my laundry comes out smelling fabulous! I put in less soap (actually... I take that back...) I put in the right amount of soap now. Instead of putting in extra just for that added kick of soap/clean smell. I love this stuff and it's not like it's expensive. (It's more expensive at the store. Or maybe buying local is how they gouge you on prices...) Not sure. But regardless... I love the smell and am looking forward to trying different scents!! (And brands... I also buy Purex crystals too.) ... show more
