This DOWELL 16” Magnetic Level Torpedo Level is very nicely made and accurate. Mine had no magnetism anywhere, so I can’t judge that. However, I’m not really concerned about this being magnetic, as that isn’t a feature that I would use often. Great quality, though; seems as if it will last a long time. Very pleased with this level. This torpedo level is well built and agrees with my digital angle gauge for 0, 45, and 90 degrees. Literally my only complaint is the paper sticker barcode that's annoying to peel off (in pieces). The main body (orange) has a machined flat bottom and appear to be a powder coated aluminum extrusion. The black ends are some sort of hard plastic (though doesn't feel brittle) with a ~1/16" rubber edge cover to soften any impacts and prevent marring. The bubbles themselves are pretty cool-- they seem to be encased in an epoxy block-- these aren't the glass tubes you're grandpa worked with. Overall, this is a sturdy, clean looking level that is accurate and listed at a budget price. This would be great for any home tool kit and is replacing my cheapo Stanley level without hesitation.

This is a great tool and we've already used it to ensure that painting we've put up on the wall is horizontally well aligned. And it was quite easy to use. We hinged one end of the painting to the wall using a screw and then put this level on the top of the painting to align it well, marked the other side and then inserted the screw for the other end. it was that easy. This is versatile because you will be able to measure items even at 45 degrees and not just 180 degrees. There are a couple of things that could have been better with this tool - it is a bit heavy and bulky, that doesn't make it too difficult to use though, just slightly cumbersome and secondly, the materials used for the tool is plastic but a little low quality. But overall very useful and helpful

DOWELL Magnetic Level Torpedo Level 16" This is an OK level but I have some issues with it. The bubbles are clear to see and easily read. The metal body seems strong enough but the plastic parts are a concern. It seems something has broken off inside the level and rattles around when I use it. By the sound of the clinking it’s a plastic part rather than a metal shaving. The UPC tag doesn’t peel of neatly and is annoying. I’ll be cleaning it with goo gone soon. Lastly is the metal magnetic side. It’s more of a fine file surface than a softer magnet side. Where you storage this level by magnetically attaching it will probably be losing some surface paint over time. So I’d be really careful where I put it. Using the level via the magnet will be a dangerous operation too, more likely to damage what you are leveling. So, while it’s functional I’m concerned it will damage what I’m trying to level, in some cases. So I think you may be served better by a less potentially damaging tool.

Overall I am very satisfied with this level. It is extremely accurate, I compared it to my much more expensive levels as well as my laser level and it is right on target. If I have nits to pick they are these: 1) The magnetic side (which is not very powerful) has a surface that is a bit coarse and could scratch what you are holding it against if you slide it across the surface. Be careful and check that first. 2) While you can hang it on a hook, the plastic at that point is a bit thick the hanging hole is blocked with some plastic, so unless you are using a large, thin hook, it might tend to stick out when hung. But, for the price, this is a super product. After all, what’s important in a level is that it measures accurately and I was extremely pleased with the accuracy of this product. This level has a nice weight in the hand. It’s not overly small or light. It’s also not too heavy or bulky to use. There really is a nice balance of the level. There has three options for reading the level bubble. One of my favorite features about this level is the magnetic strip on the bottom. It really does provide a good magnetic grip. It’s also strong enough that I can store it on a metal shelf in the garage. The other options for storage are two areas that could be hung on a hook in the garage. Personally, I just really like how it is easily accessible on my metal shelf so I always know where it is. The level is mostly the orange metal and the black and white pieces are plastic. I am very pleased with this level, the ability to store, and it’s comfortable weight. It’s a very nice level for pretty much everything I would need it for around the house.
