  • Better than the my Chrysler original
I bought this to replace the high-side service port on my 1998 Dodge Dakota 4x2 V6. Amazon thinks it doesn't fit this vehicle, but other online sources indicate it does, so I took a chance. Amazon is wrong. The attached photo shows both this part (on the left, w. the green O-ring) and the original Chrysler part (on the right, w. the red O-ring). As you can see from the photo, the machining on this part is substantially better than on the Chrysler part -- compare the crest of the thread on both parts. The crest on this part is clean and sharp; the crest on the Chrysler part is very rough and ratty looking. This thread is generally well protected over its lifetime by the fitting into which it screws, so we know the ratty thread on the Chrysler part is from the manufacturer rather than damage over the last 24 years of use. Assuming these parts are typical of both manufacturers, then it appears the manufacturer of this part just cares more than the manufacturer of the Chrysler original who chose to continue using cutting tools long past their "sharpen by" date. And if they care more about the areas (like this thread) that don't absolutely have to be perfect, then I'll assume they also care more about the areas (and materials & tolerances) I can't adequately inspect that really DO matter. EDITED 2022-12-18. I've had to reduce my rating from 5 to 4 stars, because of a dimensional tolerance issue. This service port is designed to be installed and removed using an unusual 8-sided socket made specifically for standard R134A high-side service ports. I purchased the Auto Supply K13001 socket set (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FQBSSWV), which includes sockets for both high- and low-side ports. The high-side socket measures 15.69 .. 15.73 mm across the flats. The original Chrysler service port measures 15.56 .. 15.66 mm across the flats (depending on which pair of flats you measure), providing a snug fit to the socket. I've not seen formal drawings of either part, but presume from my available samples that the port is supposed to be 15.6 mm across the flats, and the socket is supposed to be 15.7 mm across the flats. But the Dorman part measures only 15.29 .. 15.33 mm across the flats, and only 15.78 .. 15.79 mm across the points. That makes it a VERY loose fit in the socket, and easily damaged by a 15.72 mm socket if you torque it too hard during installation. So it appears Dorman is making this part about 0.3 mm undersized in that area, and the difference may make installation and removal more difficult than necessary. Sherco makes a very similar (though somewhat more expensive) high-side service port (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097W3ZNJX) which should be directly compatible with this one. It may be a better fit to the socket than this, but I've NOT purchased one to see. ... show more

  • A lot cheaper than a whole new hose
The valve on my gm truck was leaking, and I saw a YouTube video of someone recommending this to replace the non serviceable valve on my ac line and it fits! This saved me so much money.

  • This stops the leak problem
Just a few cents per unit would save many dollars! If the OEM used this valve I believe there would be a LOT less refrigerant leaking into the atmosphere and we would have more reliable auto A/C
