  • Legit turbo
Installed this turbo on my Cruze I believe in January. And I haven’t had any issues with it since it’s been on. Other issues have occurred but nothing with the turbo itself. Works Great!

  • Didn't look used
Item arrived in an Amazon box, in a shrink wrapped package, all with Dorman tags and accessories. Nothing had been used as far as I could tell. For the price it was certainly a good option for changing the turbo with the Dorman brand. Install fit was similar to the Factory GM, Garrett model but required a 1/4" drive socket for the exhaust manifold nuts. You could not get a 3/8" drive in the lower spots, like the original because the casting was too close to the nuts (poor planning / quality here); otherwise everything else fit up well without any problems. Physically, the turbo portion was not any heavier than the original turbo as some have claimed. It is up to the part to determine if this turbo will outlast the original that accumulated 125K miles before 3 internal cracks nearly reaching the outside did it in. It is made in China. I believe the Garrett I replaced was originally assembled in Mexico. At this point I would certainly recommend this Amazon used option; although, I do not typically like buying after market parts for items like this. However, for this part I have not read any review that leads me to believe any supplier is better than another. As I told my Daughter, we are just going to through the "damaged" box that was advertised away, it is the part that I am concerned about and will live with. For now all works as it should. ... show more

  • Inspect your Turbo before installation!!!
To keep a long story short after taking out the turbo on my wife's car to get to the oil cooler. I noticed a crack in the stock turbo by the wastegate. Ordered this turbo and received it in a timely manner. After completing the oil cooler install and attempted to install this turbo, I could not complete the install due to two issues. First issue was that the tare on the nuts onto the studs that are in the kit far exceed the maximum GM torque specifications that is required to install the manifold to the block. Would not be good if a stud breaks off into the block. Secondly, after getting a nut installed finally noticed I could not remove the socket off the nut unless you back off the nut due to the flange on the exhaust manifold not being milled properly. After calling Dorman technical support and spending a few hours of research on my end and his end the tech called me back and told me to take the turbo out and return it to the vendor in this case Amazon, luckily, I am within the 30-day return/refund policy. As for the stud and nut torquing issue the tech informed me that they instruct individuals to use the stock studs from GM to complete the installation of the turbo. I ended up just going with a GM turbo, studs, nuts, and gaskets which I highly recommend. I returned the turbo to Amazon with a sticky note inside the box instructing not to use turbo just in case it gets lost in the fray and sent to another customer. Good luck on your installation but from here on when it comes to critical engine or vehicle parts I advise to just go the GM route. It costs more but it definitely better than having to do the same job twice. ... show more

  • Quality part for the price
Installed on a 2012 Chevy Cruze. Fit as designed. Also ordered the Dorman oil and coolant lines. Everything fit and worked together as they should. It came with everything including new exhaust manifold studs to install. I would not hesitate to buy this product in the future.

  • Looks and installed normally
The only thing about this kit that wasn't as normal as could be is the exhaust manifold studs are to long. Very lucky that I was comfortable reusing the old ones. Now time will tell. My 2012 Cruze is running great now. Make sure you also purchase the oil and cooling tube kit.

  • Works perfectly 1 year later
I bought the same Dorman Turbo for my 2014 Chevy Cruze. It is amazing a year later. My original failed at 210,000 miles! Here's why it worked for me: 1. I bought this turbo then brought it to the dealership and had them properly install it so I have the ACDelco service 12,000 mi / 12 month warranty. 2. I change my oil regularly with premium full synthetic high mileage oil with premium oil filters. 3. I've only used 91+ premium gas (ethanol-free if possible). 4. I've maintenanced my car soon when it needs. 5. Take care of things you have, have it installed properly, don't do it unless you're 100% sure like changing the oil, and you save money in the long run. Plus, my engine has 219,000 miles on it and still going strong with this new turbo. Do not try to fix things yourself unless you are competent. Trying to self-daignose your car, your health, your mental disorders, everything... will end up disastrous. This is why techs and mechanics are certified and provide warranties. ... show more

  • Poor quality control
Bolt holes were not tapped correctly spent hours trying to get a bolt started laying under the car only to take it all out to discover it was not correct. One of the two bolts went in fine on the oil return line the other wouldn’t, had to order a replacement, causing the car to be unavailable for several extra days. ... show more

  • Poor Quality - Incorrectly Machined
After struggling for a bit to get the PCV air inlet tube to fit on the air inlet, I realized that the ID of the PCV inlet on the turbocharger was only partially machined. This made it impossible for the tube to seat correctly in the inlet. I ended up buying a turbo from a different company on Amazon that had no issues. ... show more
