  • Fits 2012 sierra regular cab
Writing a review to help someone out. Every youtube video was more for dual climate control gm trucks. I have a regular cab, manual temp dial, single zone. This is the part for the blend door, or what moves when turning the tempeture dial. My truck either had full cold or full heat nothing in between. The part number on my original was 52402588, dorman 604-106 is the match. Amazon says part doesn't fit but if you go to the dorman website you can look at all the fit charts, it's how I found this part. It's specifically, as far as I could tell just for a regular cab truck silverado or sierra, single zone. Part is located behind the passenger airbag, left side and takes 30 min to install. I still disconnected the battery but the air bag only needs unbolted and moved out of the dash but no completely unplugged. Dorman part looked the same as original, made in Korea like the ac delco at almost double the price, and worked immediately. ... show more

  • Fit 2003 Sierra 1500 with auto controls
I usually try and stick with OEM parts however after doing a thorough search the OEM was very expensive. I did not want lower end substitutes but the Dorman is pretty well constructed. It took a bit of time to remove the old unit. After some jockeying around the replacement went in. Remember to allow the unit and the system to reset. Usually it is best to remove the fuse before doing the install. After cranking the engine let thing run for a couple of minutes to allow the blend door to adjust. If you start playing with the controls it could throw it off. It happened to me so refer to many YouTubes out there that outline removal, install and reset procedures. ... show more

  • Works perfect! Hot outside, cold in my truck!
This part was exactly as described. I had to do some research and make some phone calls but this fixed my problem. Heres my experiance with my particular application in hopes that it will help someone else. I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado with auto air. My air inlet door actuator had failed. To be clear this is the door that lets outside air in with the A/C on and then closes the door to block off outside air when in "recirculation" mode. This allows the A/C to recirculate or "re-use" the already cooler and dryer air inside your vehicle. I had read post after post about how you had to take your entire dash out to access this thing, which is on the passenger side and buried almost all the way to the fire wall. I wasnt looking forward to it. Once I began work and had a lot of the dash parts off and dash cover off realized just how bad it was going to be until I remembered reading, on an Amazon review of same part, where some guy cut his A/C duct out of the way and I thought he was crazy! Turns out hes not! It was either cut duct out of way or really have to take entire dash out, braces and all. I was fortunate enought to have an air saw that made quick work out of the duct. This doesnt sound as bad as you may tthink. I made one straigt cut just to the left of where the actuator was located, drilled out the plastic weld where it attached to the de-frost duct and the other end slides right out of the flex duct! Done! I then removed the silver control module located just below and in front of this piece of ducting, just be sure to unplug all the connectors on the bottom of it (I believe it has something to do with the onstar or XM system.) Now to re-install the duct I slipped the lose end back into the flex duct, realigned the end I cut, and used aluminum duct repair tape to reseal the cut and re-attach it to the system. This is the "chrome" like tape you can find at Lowes or even some auto parts stores that is often used to install or repair home A/C duct work or even make a hasty auto patch repair with. I then used a zip tie to re attach the duct to the de-frost vent so it wouldnt rattle around once the dash caover was back on. Re assemble dash and your done! You can use a plastic glue if you want but i didnt want a harsh odor blowing out when the dash heated up during the day so I used the tape. Im sure you could use regular duct tape but the aluminum stuff has more insulating properties to it. This method created so much space to access the actuator with a fraction of the work or time it would have otherwise. Just be sure to plug in the actuator before re applying power to vhehicle. The truck will automatically learn the position of new actuator and adjust as necessary. The new one works great and my A/C will freeze you out now! ... show more

  • Works great!
I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 5.3L V8. For the last couple of years, the A/C on the driver's side would periodically blow very hot air (when this happened it would not stop blowing until I turned the truck off and restarted the engine). Repair shops and dealerships wanted over $400 to fix this issue. This replacement actuator fixed the problem, and was easy to do myself in less than an hour. Steps I took to install this part: 1) Remove I/P insulator panel. This is the black plastic panel underneath the dash covering the center and passenger underside, which covers the HVAC unit. This is attached with 4 screws - use a 9/32 socket to remove them. The second screw from the left can be a bit of a bear because the recess on the panel coupled with the center console bump makes it difficult to access this screw. A regular socket is to shallow, but a socket extender is too long to get in there. You will want to use a 9/32 deep socket to reach this screw. 2) Remove the old actuator: first unplug the electrical connector from the left actuator, then remove the 2 screws holding it in using a 7/32 socket. 3) Pop in the new actuator, plug in the electrical connector, and replace the screws and I/P insulator panel. 4) The new actuator will need to be calibrated before it will work properly. I followed what a couple other people said here about doing a hard reset - disconnect the battery for a minute or two, then reconnect the battery. Turn the key in the ignition to the ON position for 2 minutes. Then turn the key off and start the engine. In addition to this hard reset, I had to remove the fuse to calibrate the HVAC unit. Simply remove the HVAC/ECAS fuse for at least 10 seconds, then replace it (I just went ahead and put a brand new fuse in there). Then turn the engine on and let it run with the A/C fan OFF for 40 seconds; during this time the HVAC unit will self calibrate. Then turn on the A/C and enjoy the cold air and the $350 you saved by doing this yourself :) ... show more
