  • Real piano feel/sound BUT low volume, sometimes a key has no sound
Color: SE-1 Piano
UPDATE 7/1/23: Donner customer service has caused me to add a star. It turns out the issue with the loose DC cord was actually the DC adapter that I received with the keyboard and not the port on the keyboard itself. The company resolved this allowing me to purchase a new DC adapter and giving me a refund to cover the cost of this. Problem solved. I really appreciate a company that works to satisfy the customer (within reason) and Donner has done that. ORIGINAL REVIEW 6/22/2023: I purchased the piano at full cost (*sad face*) and am giving my honest review as someone who has owned a couple acoustic pianos, keyboards, and has been playing the piano since childhood. PROS: 1) SOUND -- The grand piano sounds really great! I really enjoy playing. 128 polyphonic 2) KEYS -- The feel of the keys, particularly the wood feel on black keys feels like a nice acoustic piano. I really enjoy the feeling of playng this over a typical electric keyboard. There is no click/clack when pressing the. 3) COST -- It was the only 88 key full weighted graded hammer digital piano I saw around the $400 price point. 4) OTHER -- There were some good reviews on YT about this model, and some good Amazon reviews about the company. While I have not had to deal with their customer service, great customer service backing a product goes a long way in my book ....and now for the not-so-great.... CONS: 1) SOUND: The sound on the octave above middle C warbles/makes a buzzing sound when I change to other instruments. It only does it on those particular keys...I dunno what's up with that. The 15 W speakers are WAY, WAY, WAY too quiet. As other reviews have said, you can use an additional sound source, such as the included headphones or speakers, to help improve the sound levels, but I wish it was louder at full volume through the onboard speakers. 2) POWER CORD - The loose power cord falls out easily, even when barely moving the wire, say by playing or moving my foot. I've had less than 1 week and the DC power cord is loose when plugged in. I noticed it right away. I was playing and the keyboard suddenly shut off. I was able to turn it back on. I think the power cord was loose but didn't fall out all the way. This is not ok. 3) COST - I'm a broke college student so it was a financial strain to purchase this, but I did not want a semi-weighted keyboard/piano. I wish there had been a coupon like there was for the semi-weighted version, but such is life. 4) KEYS -- While playing I occasionally notice a key I press does not make a sound, particularly when several other keys are being played simultaneously. 5) OTHER -- I wish there were dedicated transpose +/- buttons. The transpose feature is hidden in the menu on the LCD. Overall, I wish there were more dedicated buttons for changing instruments, rhythms, and demos. All of this had to be done through a menu on the LCD screen. I wish the manual explained some of the features better. I'm left guessing what a couple of them are for. The sustain pedal uses a multi-prong cable meaning that a universal sustain pedal won't fit. This sucks because mine came a bit scratched up on the metal part. If I have to replace it, I will likely have to use a proprietary sustain pedal. No fun. OVERALL THOUGHTS: The box states that this is a stage piano. I don't know that I would use it for a stage performance except in a pinch, but it's markedly better than just a regular beginner keyboard. I would say this is an intermediate between a beginner keyboard and a professional digital piano. I think this is a nice piano for home use or for some fun jam sessions. For most, this price point is good for a decent intermediate-level digital piano. You will have fun playing and making music on this piano, so enjoy! ... show more

  • Great for beginners, I can't say on intermediate players as I myself have just begun
Color: SE-1 Piano + Stand
I was really impressed by Donner. At a final price of around 485 (on sale), I received the piano, sheet music holder, stand, the 3 pedals that attach to the stand and a single sustain pedal for when you don't want to use the stand, and headphones. So basically, if you get a bench that comes with 6 week free piano lessons (some of them do) then you're pretty much set on your musical career. When the piano arrived, I'll admit that it was heavier than expected and that didn't help the fact that I live 3 stories high (no elevator). With some help, I eventually got it up the stairs. Opening it, the piano was packaged well with clear words point to the accessories. Assembling it was easy and straightforward. However, it was required to drill in screws to the 3 pedals which wasn't optional since at the time I didn't have a drill. Surprisingly, we were able to screw them in with a screwdriver. The headphones have a special plug to plug in the piano that I've never seen before. A new pair of headphones for all of my other things would've been nice, but it is crucial to remember that the headphones are kind of an extra-- Donner could've sold the piano at the same price without headphones and nobody would've batted an eye. There was an annoying sticker on the highest note which I unfortunately tried to rip off without the proper tools, leaving residue that became a unpleasing brown color as I tried to get it off. A few finger rubs, and the texture isn't noticeably different from the other keys. I'm sure that with a few drops of water the stain would come off easily. The pedals didn't have long enough cords for any of my tables except for the stand that came with the piano- a little shorter than I expected at first but when I adjusted my chair to it, everything felt normal again. The sound and speakers are great, and I've noticed that while donner has speakers front back and under, a lot of other brands only have speakers on one side. I've read reviews saying that the piano is chunky but it's not a problem when you're sitting at the right height, or when you have the stand. It should be noted that the piano is installed to the stand with thumb screws, making it easier to take off. In conclusion, my choice of buying this piano was not regretted, and at the same price range I wouldn't have it any other way. After reading this review it does really look like I've been paid to write this review but I guess I'm just in a good mood on a boring day. ... show more

  • Sometimes I hit a Key and there is no sound Donner Helped me solve the issue
Color: SE-1 Piano
Donner responded to me and helped me figure out the issues I was having. I have two issues the biggest one is that sometimes while playing the keys labeled M0, M3, and R3 they don't make a sound but it does when I touch the key again. If I can't fix that I will have to return it. The other issues is the sustain pedal would not plug in I had to use tweezers to unbend one of the prongs to get it to plug in. The sustain pedal now works but I am worried it won’t when I move it. After trying different things to make the keys always produce sound and messages with Donner Support. I turned off touch sensitivity no more issues. I was not hitting the keys hard enough or fast enough, when I got no sound. They also sent me a replacement pedal. ... show more

  • Great customer service and nice instrument for beginners
Color: SE-1 Piano
I've purchased 3 of these keyboards for my classroom and they are a wonderful beginner instrument with weighted keys and decent sound quality. I sent back one instrument because the keys were sticking, but was given an immediate replacement. Donner has been extremely helpful. I will say the one drawback is the length of the pedal cord- it's very short and won't reach the floor. ... show more
