Long review alert! Overall I think this is an awesome guitar. For me there was a small learning curve to learn how the string changing & tuning worked (see tips below). It sounds great! If you use this guitar with fx units, headphone amp with FX & FX pedals then *you may want to turn active mode OFF (its a button by the headphone jack). If I understand correctly Active mode is mainly for using the headphone jack (dry tone, no FX , no Reverb. Newer PRO model has onboard FX & more). Do some testing with your gear & this guitar with Active mode ON & OFF to get a feel for how it changes the sound & max volume then decide when & if at all to use Active mode. It Did alter the sound & tone with my gear. Also active mode runs on included 9v battery so you may want to test battery on occasion expecially if you stop getting sound from the headphone jack. The guitar plays great. The neck is awesome! The fretboard is cool. The frets are smooth on the sides. The action was good from the factory Not too high on mine & the intonation was almost perfect. The bridge looks high quality & has height & intonation adjustment for each string which is excellent. Fine tuning the intonation was easy. The neck was straight & some pro guitar techs will put very slight dip in the neck to prevent fret buzz so there's possible prefrence adjustments but I did Not notice any fret buzz. String change tuning tip: -Move the tuners counterclockwise to the loosest setting possible before feeding the new strings in through the bridge string slots (you have to open the 9v battery cover when changing strings). This will give you maximum tuning range for tuning the strings up to your desired pitches. - Pull each string tight after feeding it through its corresponding headplate locking slot (on the far edge of neck side by the 1st fret) before tightening the string locks for each string. *Heavy Duty Textured Nitrile Gloves Help Grip The Smaller Unwound Strings* (see pic) to pull them tight before tightening the string locks. - For the high E string you may want to use Cobalt and a thicker guage if you do a lot of string bending. Ive had cheaper high E strings break just tuning them up to pitch with this guitar. Maybe don't tighten the high E string locks quite as hard either. - For high E string you may want to further loosen its tuner knob a little *after* feeding it through the bridge but not too much, you can run out of screw threads. - For the high E string & maybe all the thinner unwound strings; If I have issues with them breaking more often than normal I might wrap them around the "headplate guardrail" a couple times after pulling them tight & not tightening the string locks quite as much. Maybe put a small mini window slide lock clamp holding the string winds on the rail with a little piece of textured glove as grippy padding between strings & clamp. - Always stretch the new strings after tuning them, then re tune after stretching a couple times. This helps the guitar stay in tune Much Better *especially if you do a lot of string bending. There are online YT videos by guitar companies & actual gtr techs on how to do this properly plus many other great tips & techniques for set up & maintenance. The truss rod is easy to adjust with included allen key on the pick ups side of the neck, just remove the small cover plate. *Ideas For Future Editions Of This Guitar*: - Rock Locks style universal adapters (no screws needed!) or The Strap style universal locking guitar strap which have Quick Release - A car friendly frame piece option/accessory that goes across the butt end of the guitar so the tuning pegs & strap peg Doesn't Dig Into My Leg When Playing This Guitar In My Car!! (I dont have this problem with my other brand travel guitar & I play in my car A Lot). - Upgraded guitar strings options (I would pay a little extra). All that being said, overall so far this is an awesome great sounding fun guitar at an exceptional price for the features.

I’ve had this guitar for a while now and I’m really happy with it. The mahogany body is one of my favorite parts. It just has a really nice feel to it and gives the guitar a more natural response overall. The neck is nice and thin, which makes it very easy to move around the fretboard. It’s a 22 fret setup, and everything feels comfortable whether you’re doing chords, lead work, or more technical playing. This one has both active and passive pickup options, which is a huge plus. You can keep things more relaxed and smooth, or switch it over and add a bit more bite when you want it. I like how simple it is to use, no overcomplicated controls. I went with the metallic white version, and I prefer this one mainly because of the fretboard. It just feels better to me compared to the HPL boards on some of the other versions. The white itself is a little basic, but it pairs really well with the mahogany and still looks nice. The removable frame pieces are super easy to deal with. You just twist and push them in, no real effort needed, and they come off just as easily. It’s a simple design that works. It runs on a 9V battery, which is easy to install, and you’ve got a lot of flexibility with how you use it. You can plug it straight into your interface, use a headphone amp, run it through pedals, or just play it like any other electric guitar. I’ve used it with a headphone amp and it handled all my tones really well. The pickups on this thing are actually really good for stock pickups. That surprised me the most. It translates different tones really well and doesn’t feel limited at all. It’s also super lightweight and comes with a compact gig bag. You can fit this in a suitcase without any issues. I took it with me on my trip to the UK and it made traveling so much easier compared to bringing a full size guitar. Even though it’s a travel guitar, it doesn’t feel limited. You can play pretty much anything on it. I’ve used it for progressive stuff, heavier riffs, cleaner passages, even blues, and it handles all of it without any problems. It also stays in tune (or close to it) most of the time, so you don’t always have to tune it, at least not much. The headless design looks modern and makes it even more practical for travel. Everything about it is just convenient without sacrificing playability. All things considered, this is a really well thought out guitar for under $300. It’s easy to travel with, versatile, and genuinely enjoyable to play, would definitely recommend it.

Awesome for what it is! This is a great travel guitar. I love the way it build to feel like a real guitar but it light weight and compact for travel. The color is great! The sound quality is decent it’s nothing to write home about. I got this to use to build consistency and make sure I could practice anywhere and it’s fulfilled that role. The frets are smooth and have ball ends, the tuners work great, the strap button on the bottom is in the wrong place but that’s an easy fix. My biggest complaint and why I’ll drop a star is for the volume/tone know and pickup switch. The pickup switch feels weak like it will break if I use it with any amount of force. The volume and tone are stacked which looks cool but you can’t really adjust one with adjusting the other a little bit too. Overall though I would recommend it! Just a few minor things that but me bit the guitar and all the accessories it comes with are great. I especially love the strap and the headphones. Normal ear buds always slowly slide out of my ear but these ones stay in and that’s been a struggle my whole life so yeah… Get one! (Mine was seized by those the sail the high concrete seas but I found one on Facebook marketplace almost brand new yo it experience may be better with a real new one)

OK, I just got this last night. It took about 10 minutes to unpack, set up, tune, and get to playing. It comes with everything you need: tuner, picks (which are actually pretty good, sorta similar to my Jazz IIIs), 2 sets of allen wrenches, strap, surprisingly good headphones, battery, guitar cable (which is semi-thick, not like the thin entry level ones you get sometimes), and even a cloth to wipe things down. The case is great and separates the guitar from everything else via two separate chambers in the very compact structure. I played this thru the headphones and my iPad (via iRig 2 and Amplitude); I'm actually traveling right now so I don't have access to my regular setup. It sounds very nice thru the headphones; very crisp, no static or latency. Thru my iRig and Amplitude, I got to dial in some nice crunch and really go to town. Frets feel very nice and rounded, and the stock strings are fine (although I'll be replacing them with my trusty Ernie Ball Slinkys in a bit). It's very easy to tune and stays in tune nicely. Fretboard and neck feel nice, and the thing doesn't weigh much at all. The volume and tone being in the same stack is a pretty nice way to save space and not sacrifice the tone knob. I've been playing for 20+ years and have some pretty expensive toys. I must say, used to think of Donner as poorly made stuff for beginners, but this has changed my mind. For me, it's the perfect travel guitar, and just might find its way into regular rotation with alternate tunings or something along those lines. Well done guys.

I have been wanting a travel guitar for a long time now. Every time I was about to pull the trigger, I would see a newer and better product being mentioned. I saw the Donner Hush-I a few months ago and I was really impressed by its design. While researching video reviews of it, I came across videos on the Donner HUSH-X. Perfect, I thought, except that it hadn't been released yet, and there was no information from Donner on when it might be released. This weekend, I was about to buy the HUSH-I which would have been a compromise for me because of the bridge. But, the clouds parted and the guitar Gods shone their faces upon me when I saw the Donner HUSH-X was available and would be here before Christmas. This guitar is so much more than I expected, and the price makes it an unbelievable value compared to the Traveller or the Alp (Asmuse). Although it's not mentioned in the listing, mine came with a clip on tuner, a 10ft long guitar cable (1/4") a pair of wired headphones, a 9V battery, spare allen screws for the bridge. A guitar strap and some picks. I'm in the bonus round now! One of the things that I really like about the Donner is that you do not need a tool or a wrench to tune the guitar (like the Asmuse). This guitar arrived with the action and intonation set pretty good. I may try to lower the action a little, once I play it more. But for now, it is very playable, and sounds great through my amplifier with clean or distorted tones, and even with new strings, it stays in tune. The finish on the frets is excellent and there are no sharp edges or fret buzz. I wasn't sure about putting it on my guitar stand, but it does fit. This guitar will be primarily used for when I'm on the road, and not for playing much at home. I am so glad that I waited for the HUSH-X. It is absolutely everything that I wanted with no compromises. I hope that you find this review and my pics helpful. I'll upload a video with some tones after Christmas.

I bought this a couple of years ago and really liked it at first, BUT -- 1st, the tip of the pickup switch broke off so now I have to stick a small screwdriver in the slot to change it. It is soldered to a circuit board inside and would be impractical to repair without a whole PCB replacement. 2nd, the truss rod cannot be "uncranked" enough to straighten the neck. I spent a lot of time trying to eliminate buzz in the setup because of too much bow in the neck. After raising the bridge height to get rid of the buzz on the high strings, playability was affected. 3rd, the fret board is not stable. the 3rd, 4th & 5th frets have raised over time and which makes the bowed neck even more of a problem. This is a "zero" fret guitar which is a cool concept BUT doesn't work with a bowed neck and requires much better fret height uniformity and stability than Donner provides. I'd like to like this guitar but it is not stable.

I wanted to love this guitar. It actually sounds great once tuned up and adjusted. My beef is with the metal attachments. I do like the way they look and feel, but they are not snug and wobble when you play. The bearings in my bottom piece eventually gave up the ghost and popped out altogether.

I've been enjoying it so far, no complaints really. I've brought this along on a few trips and it's held up well, I mostly play it at home though, it makes for a good couch guitar too. The support mounts do a good job at emulating the feel of a full-size guitar, and it is indeed very portable when packed. The pickups on it are pretty decent, I don't mind them, at least, not enough to replace them with something else. The bridge pickup works well for high gain stuff, it's a bit "chuggy", and the neck pickup is a standard strat-style pickup. The active mode on this seems to add a slight trebly EQ curve with compression, no boost in the volume as far as I can tell. I didn't have to do much setup out of the box, the frets are smooth and level, it stays in tune, and no electronics problems, overall it plays pretty well. The combo volume/tone knob and the pickup selector are probably the weakest part of it, they feel a bit awkward and I wonder how long they'll end up lasting, no actual problems with them yet though. Yeah really not much else to say about it, it's a solid travel guitar especially for the price.
