Fun Great Sounding Very Portable!
Color: Natural
Long review alert! Overall I think this is an awesome guitar. For me there was a small learning curve to learn how the string changing & tuning worked (see tips below). It sounds great! If you use this guitar with fx units, headphone amp with FX & FX pedals then *you may want to turn active mode OFF (its a button by the headphone jack). If I understand correctly Active mode is mainly for using the headphone jack (dry tone, no FX , no Reverb. Newer PRO model has onboard FX & more). Do some testing with your gear & this guitar with Active mode ON & OFF to get a feel for how it changes the sound & max volume then decide when & if at all to use Active mode. It Did alter the sound & tone with my gear. Also active mode runs on included 9v battery so you may want to test battery on occasion expecially if you stop getting sound from the headphone jack. The guitar plays great. The neck is awesome! The fretboard is cool. The frets are smooth on the sides. The action was good from the factory Not too high on mine & the intonation was almost perfect. The bridge looks high quality & has height & intonation adjustment for each string which is excellent. Fine tuning the intonation was easy. The neck was straight & some pro guitar techs will put very slight dip in the neck to prevent fret buzz so there's possible prefrence adjustments but I did Not notice any fret buzz. String change tuning tip: -Move the tuners counterclockwise to the loosest setting possible before feeding the new strings in through the bridge string slots (you have to open the 9v battery cover when changing strings). This will give you maximum tuning range for tuning the strings up to your desired pitches. - Pull each string tight after feeding it through its corresponding headplate locking slot (on the far edge of neck side by the 1st fret) before tightening the string locks for each string. *Heavy Duty Textured Nitrile Gloves Help Grip The Smaller Unwound Strings* (see pic) to pull them tight before tightening the string locks. - For the high E string you may want to use Cobalt and a thicker guage if you do a lot of string bending. Ive had cheaper high E strings break just tuning them up to pitch with this guitar. Maybe don't tighten the high E string locks quite as hard either. - For high E string you may want to further loosen its tuner knob a little *after* feeding it through the bridge but not too much, you can run out of screw threads. - For the high E string & maybe all the thinner unwound strings; If I have issues with them breaking more often than normal I might wrap them around the "headplate guardrail" a couple times after pulling them tight & not tightening the string locks quite as much. Maybe put a small mini window slide lock clamp holding the string winds on the rail with a little piece of textured glove as grippy padding between strings & clamp. - Always stretch the new strings after tuning them, then re tune after stretching a couple times. This helps the guitar stay in tune Much Better *especially if you do a lot of string bending. There are online YT videos by guitar companies & actual gtr techs on how to do this properly plus many other great tips & techniques for set up & maintenance. The truss rod is easy to adjust with included allen key on the pick ups side of the neck, just remove the small cover plate. *Ideas For Future Editions Of This Guitar*: - Rock Locks style universal adapters (no screws needed!) or The Strap style universal locking guitar strap which have Quick Release - A car friendly frame piece option/accessory that goes across the butt end of the guitar so the tuning pegs & strap peg Doesn't Dig Into My Leg When Playing This Guitar In My Car!! (I dont have this problem with my other brand travel guitar & I play in my car A Lot). - Upgraded guitar strings options (I would pay a little extra). All that being said, overall so far this is an awesome great sounding fun guitar at an exceptional price for the features.

Impressive Travel Guitar With Real Tone And Playability
Color: Metallic White
I’ve had this guitar for a while now and I’m really happy with it. The mahogany body is one of my favorite parts. It just has a really nice feel to it and gives the guitar a more natural response overall. The neck is nice and thin, which makes it very easy to move around the fretboard. It’s a 22 fret setup, and everything feels comfortable whether you’re doing chords, lead work, or more technical playing. This one has both active and passive pickup options, which is a huge plus. You can keep things more relaxed and smooth, or switch it over and add a bit more bite when you want it. I like how simple it is to use, no overcomplicated controls. I went with the metallic white version, and I prefer this one mainly because of the fretboard. It just feels better to me compared to the HPL boards on some of the other versions. The white itself is a little basic, but it pairs really well with the mahogany and still looks nice. The removable frame pieces are super easy to deal with. You just twist and push them in, no real effort needed, and they come off just as easily. It’s a simple design that works. It runs on a 9V battery, which is easy to install, and you’ve got a lot of flexibility with how you use it. You can plug it straight into your interface, use a headphone amp, run it through pedals, or just play it like any other electric guitar. I’ve used it with a headphone amp and it handled all my tones really well. The pickups on this thing are actually really good for stock pickups. That surprised me the most. It translates different tones really well and doesn’t feel limited at all. It’s also super lightweight and comes with a compact gig bag. You can fit this in a suitcase without any issues. I took it with me on my trip to the UK and it made traveling so much easier compared to bringing a full size guitar. Even though it’s a travel guitar, it doesn’t feel limited. You can play pretty much anything on it. I’ve used it for progressive stuff, heavier riffs, cleaner passages, even blues, and it handles all of it without any problems. It also stays in tune (or close to it) most of the time, so you don’t always have to tune it, at least not much. The headless design looks modern and makes it even more practical for travel. Everything about it is just convenient without sacrificing playability. All things considered, this is a really well thought out guitar for under $300. It’s easy to travel with, versatile, and genuinely enjoyable to play, would definitely recommend it.

Donner Customer Service Came Through After (Major) Initial Issues
Color: Natural
-=Revised Review, with original still intact for reference:=- I initially received a guitar that stayed in tune, except for the G-string. I returned it and exchanged it for a replacement, but the same issue persisted. The G-string wouldn’t stay in tune even after one strum. I contacted customer service, who requested a video of the problem. I sent the video twice and received an email saying, "Thank you for the video, we'll be in touch shortly." However, two weeks passed without any further response. Frustrated, I felt like I had paid for a cool-looking stick with strings that I couldn’t play for more than a minute without issues. While the guitar came with a lot of accessories and looked great, it was ultimately unusable without proper customer support. I advised others to avoid this product and any Donner items. EDIT - 7/1/24: Donner reached out to me. They seem willing to help, and I'll update this review shortly. I've temporarily increased my rating by one star to reflect this effort. EDIT 2 - 7/2/24: Customer service is actively communicating with me, but there's still no real resolution. I’ve increased my rating by another star for their effort. EDIT 3 - 7/10/24: Donner credited me an amount I found satisfactory and sent me another guitar. This third guitar finally works well. The action is a bit high, but I can adjust it. It sounds great, and its size, case, and convenience for travel are excellent. Bottom line, I’m now satisfied with the product and the outcome. =TL/DR = Summary: 1) I received two faulty guitars with the same tuning issue. 2) Initial customer service was slow, but eventually, they provided a financial resolution. 3) I received a satisfactory third guitar. 4) Donner genuinely cares and resolved the issue, though it took some time. 4) My 30-day return window was a concern, but ultimately, I’m happy with the resolution. Final Note: Thank you, Donner Customer Service. I believe we’ve finally resolved the issue. ================ Original Review Title: "2 Guitars Later; Still No Resolution ... Customer Service Non-Existent" Original Review: The first one I got, well, it stayed in tune, all but the G-String ... Ok, so I returned it, as I waited for an answer from Donner as to how to remedy the situation and my return window was running out ... I opted to exchange it for a replacement one ... Once again, same issue, the G-String will not stay in tune at all ... And I mean, after -ONE STRUM- ... I notified customer service again, who asked that I provide a video of the issue, which I've done TWICE now, and got an email back both times saying "Thank you for the video, we'll be in touch shortly" ... Nothing, not a single thing, and it's another 2 weeks later ... I basically paid for a cool looking "stick" with strings that I haven't even been able to play for one full minute without major issues ... Yeah, it comes with a lot of "stuff" ... Yeah, it's cool looking, and, yeah, it's theoretically a great "idea" for a guitar ... Save yourself the hassle and disappointment of merely being able to stare at a stick with no customer support behind it, and find something else ... Seriously, find ANYTHING else but this (or just anything Donner in general at this point) ...

This thing is pretty sweet
Color: Sunburst
OK, I just got this last night. It took about 10 minutes to unpack, set up, tune, and get to playing. It comes with everything you need: tuner, picks (which are actually pretty good, sorta similar to my Jazz IIIs), 2 sets of allen wrenches, strap, surprisingly good headphones, battery, guitar cable (which is semi-thick, not like the thin entry level ones you get sometimes), and even a cloth to wipe things down. The case is great and separates the guitar from everything else via two separate chambers in the very compact structure. I played this thru the headphones and my iPad (via iRig 2 and Amplitude); I'm actually traveling right now so I don't have access to my regular setup. It sounds very nice thru the headphones; very crisp, no static or latency. Thru my iRig and Amplitude, I got to dial in some nice crunch and really go to town. Frets feel very nice and rounded, and the stock strings are fine (although I'll be replacing them with my trusty Ernie Ball Slinkys in a bit). It's very easy to tune and stays in tune nicely. Fretboard and neck feel nice, and the thing doesn't weigh much at all. The volume and tone being in the same stack is a pretty nice way to save space and not sacrifice the tone knob. I've been playing for 20+ years and have some pretty expensive toys. I must say, used to think of Donner as poorly made stuff for beginners, but this has changed my mind. For me, it's the perfect travel guitar, and just might find its way into regular rotation with alternate tunings or something along those lines. Well done guys.

I'm so glad that I waited for the Donner HUSH-X. Amazing craftmanship and design. Bonus Stuff
Color: Sunburst
I have been wanting a travel guitar for a long time now. Every time I was about to pull the trigger, I would see a newer and better product being mentioned. I saw the Donner Hush-I a few months ago and I was really impressed by its design. While researching video reviews of it, I came across videos on the Donner HUSH-X. Perfect, I thought, except that it hadn't been released yet, and there was no information from Donner on when it might be released. This weekend, I was about to buy the HUSH-I which would have been a compromise for me because of the bridge. But, the clouds parted and the guitar Gods shone their faces upon me when I saw the Donner HUSH-X was available and would be here before Christmas. This guitar is so much more than I expected, and the price makes it an unbelievable value compared to the Traveller or the Alp (Asmuse). Although it's not mentioned in the listing, mine came with a clip on tuner, a 10ft long guitar cable (1/4") a pair of wired headphones, a 9V battery, spare allen screws for the bridge. A guitar strap and some picks. I'm in the bonus round now! One of the things that I really like about the Donner is that you do not need a tool or a wrench to tune the guitar (like the Asmuse). This guitar arrived with the action and intonation set pretty good. I may try to lower the action a little, once I play it more. But for now, it is very playable, and sounds great through my amplifier with clean or distorted tones, and even with new strings, it stays in tune. The finish on the frets is excellent and there are no sharp edges or fret buzz. I wasn't sure about putting it on my guitar stand, but it does fit. This guitar will be primarily used for when I'm on the road, and not for playing much at home. I am so glad that I waited for the HUSH-X. It is absolutely everything that I wanted with no compromises. I hope that you find this review and my pics helpful. I'll upload a video with some tones after Christmas.

The guitar is super nice, but the gig bag handle fell off after one month
Color: Black
=== UPDATE === I received this item on June 29th and started playing in July 6th. I wrote the initial review on August 6th after one month of playing. Today is August 21st, and I had an even that caused me update the review. The guitar is still fine. I enjoy playing it everyday. However, the gig bag handle fell off today. I did not use the handle too much. I mostly used the shoulder bag since I did not like the handle design. I searched through other customers' review, and found several customers experiencing the same problem. I am going to follow up with Donner and update this review with the support result. Initially gave five stars, but down graded to three stars. === OLD REIVEW === I made this purchase to create daily practice time in my car and my phone booth size office, and also to carry to my business trip. I have been always jealous of violinist or flutist that they can carry their instrument very easily. When I carry this guitar it feel like carrying a very small instrument. When I practice, I don't even put the metal frame on. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it feel totally fine. It feels a lot more comfortable to play this guitar sitting down without the metal frame and strap than playing Flying V sitting down. It is lighter to carry the guitar that way also. I can practice with this guitar in my tiny back office or in my car without any problem. I cannot practice in this office with my Les Paul or Start. Taking out from and putting back into the case is super easy and quick. I can manage that easily in the back seat of my car. One of the worries I had before making the purchase was whether the tunning pegs were too close making turning them a bit difficult. I realized that was not the case at all. It is very easy to tune the guitar and it feels quite comfortable to tune. The guitar ships without any set up at all. I had to adjust string height and the truss rod a bit. If I have to pick one thing to complain about, it would be the neck. The neck feel a bit bulky an not so comfortable. However, it does not matter at all for the purpose of my purchase. I can do my daily drill anywhere. I have no complaint at all. I cannot comment about the tonal quality of the guitar. I have not connected this guitar to an amp at all. I just practice my dailies without plugged in. If I need good tone, I use my PRS, Les Paul, 335 or Start. The neck and body are built with Mahogany and the frat board was built with HPL. HPL is a material created by pressing layers of wood pulp, paper, or fibers together with resin. I wish the fretboard was made of real wood, but it does not matter at all for my purpose. The carry case is very nice. It is well built and looks very solid. I am not so sure about the carry handle, but does not create much problem. Also, they bundle a little clip tuner. It clips and stays quite well in the head frame. I paid less than $300. The price goes up near $350 time to time, but if you wait a little, it will go down less than $300. If it is less than $300, it is fantastic value for the money. [Conclusion] I would like to stress that you would need to have a strong purpose for this guitar. There are a few week points about the guitar, but they do not matter to me at all because I purchased this guitar for a very narrow use scenario, and it satisfies my purpose perfectly. Please keep in mind that you would have to spend some time or money to set this guitar up before playing.

Love at first sight that has turned to much frustration in the long run
Color: Natural
I bought this a couple of years ago and really liked it at first, BUT -- 1st, the tip of the pickup switch broke off so now I have to stick a small screwdriver in the slot to change it. It is soldered to a circuit board inside and would be impractical to repair without a whole PCB replacement. 2nd, the truss rod cannot be "uncranked" enough to straighten the neck. I spent a lot of time trying to eliminate buzz in the setup because of too much bow in the neck. After raising the bridge height to get rid of the buzz on the high strings, playability was affected. 3rd, the fret board is not stable. the 3rd, 4th & 5th frets have raised over time and which makes the bowed neck even more of a problem. This is a "zero" fret guitar which is a cool concept BUT doesn't work with a bowed neck and requires much better fret height uniformity and stability than Donner provides. I'd like to like this guitar but it is not stable.

An excellent real deal guitar.
Color: Black
Thrilled with this. Looks great, sounds really good. Its a real guitar not a toy in any way. Out of the box the action was a bit high but all of the tools for adjusting are included (Allen keys nicely tucked away in the back of the guitar). After a quick adjustment (Easy if you follow the steps given by AI) its dialed in and I'm very happy. A quality product and I'm honestly shocked at the value. Oh and the fret ends are incredibly round and smooth which was one of my concerns.
