  • Difficult assembly, unhelpful "instructions"
I'm not mechanically inclined at all. I had a hard time putting this together. I didn't find the instruction book very helpful. It's very basic and the whole booklet is 45 pages of overly simplified, not detailed instructions in different languages, which comes down to about ten pages of actual "instructions". The kick pedal for me will be a whole different ball game, trying to figure out how to keep it from sliding all over the place. I can't tell if the pedal is put together correctly as some of the insertion holes seem off or with product errors. I don't know. Days later, I'm still trying to figure this out. I will update my review once I actually get to the playing part. But for me, the assembly has been pretty difficult, which is a bummer. I just need more detail on so many aspects of it and it's frustrating when I just want to play it! ... show more

  • Easy to assemble, sounds great! Easy to assemble, sounds great!
This electronic drum set is really impressive for the price and looks very clean once set up. The pads and cymbals feel responsive and well made, not cheap or flimsy. Setup took a little time, but the instructions were clear and everything connected properly. I like that it comes with everything included, which makes it easy to get started right away. The sound options are great and the Bluetooth feature adds extra convenience. It’s also nice that it’s quieter than a traditional set, which is helpful at home. Overall, it’s a great option for practice or learning. ... show more

  • Overall a nice kit....with a few issues Overall a nice kit....with a few issues
First, the good: While the directions for putting this together were a little thin, it offers generally good info for using the drum brain and instruments. It's also not that hard to figure out putting together. The drum sounds are for the most part quite good - see my video to hear some of them. It's nice that it comes with sticks, a drum stool AND a bass drum pedal that's decent. The snare has a rim trigger which is also a nice bonus. Cymbals can be hit and choked which is super helpful for many songs. And the hi hat offers three options per kit - closed, mid and open. I like mesh pads and have a well known brand $1800 mesh pad kit; these pads are quite similar, if smaller in size. The structure is generally pretty rigid and holds nearly everything solidly (more on that below). The tubes are metal and of sufficient diameter to be strong. Connectors are plastic, which is unsurprising but they can be clamped down hard. You do use an included drum key for many tightening operations. It may be worth ordering a couple more just to have one always on hand in case one gets misplaced. The sounds are good. The drum brain is somewhat small in size, but has nice features. I like that it has hi and low eq knobs right there on the face, and a reverb knob also. There's even a phone holder, because it does have Bluetooth capability. You might miss it in the instructions because it's at the VERY end. And it basically says "Open Bluetooth on your device, then pair with the DED200." There's no button to push - just turn it on and pair it. Sweet! Now the downsides or criticisms (and the reasons for not not being a 5 star review) 1) The snare is darn near impossible to clamp tightly. I think the plastic bushing they have on the end of the metal bar spins in the clamp no matter how tightly it's clamped down. Not too much of an issue while playing, but it can bounce some. 2) Adjusting the level of a single instrument like a tom or crash adjusts it for ALL drum kits, not just that one, at least as far as I can tell. So if the cymbal is loud in one kit but quiet on another, you'll have to adjust again it if you swich kits. 3) The ride cymbal location. It's just bad placement, and you can't change it without getting another. See my video for more. 4) The cymbal angle-holders are plastic at the top, underneath. I get why - cost - but they are more likely to break over time compared to metal. 5) The cord snake to the various instruments has a single, plastic, multi-pin plug. Which means that of one cord fails, you can NO LONGER USE THAT INSTRUMENT. I get why on this too - cost - but be aware of that. My $1800 kit has separate cords for a reason. 6) Snare drumrolls sound a bit like a machine gun. And cymbal swells arent possible. Again, I know why. But be aware in case those are "needs" instead of "wants" for you. Am I nitpicking on some of these? Probably. But, if you're trying to decide between this particular kit and something that's more expensive that does more, I want you to know what those things are. And I say all this because I was in exactly this position. Trying to decide between a $400 or $500 kit and a much more expensive kit. (I wound up buying the much more expensive kit.) But that's me. For many people, this will be a great drum kit option, especially for the price. It folds up into a small space. It has really great sounds. It's actually relatively sturdy for the most part. And despite a few quirks, like where the ride cymbal is and a little bit of bounciness with the snare, it's got some really good things going for it. It comes nearly complete. And you can pair it with Bluetooth, easily and quickly. So overall, it's really good. Is it great... no. But for the price, it may well be what works for you. Just be aware of the shortcomings to make a good decision. I hope this review helps you in that decision making process. ... show more
