I’ve had a septum piercing for several years, and frequently had to keep a retainer in since I work in a corporate environment. My previous retainer had longer sides and was made out of glass, which meant that it rubbed badly and hurt over time. I was a little bit skeptical of these, but I highly recommend them! If you’ve never worn a retainer before, you may have some initial struggles getting the retainer in as you learn how to navigate it (they do have a small bit of flex in them which can make gripping and installation a little tough if you are unfamiliar - be patient and the retainer is worth it!). Once properly installed and so long as you remember to check it a time or two during the day, you will likely find that it will stay in place and you will forget that you even have the retainer in. No more pain! I’ve had the same one installed for a couple of months now without any problems and I sleep beautifully! Remember to check after you blow you nose too! Thank you! ... show more

Listen, these are TINY. The product listing advertises them as 16 gauge and 8mm inner diameter. And that’s exactly what they are. If you aren’t familiar with your piercing diameters, you should probably do some research on that before purchasing so you know what size you prefer. This size is typically what I wear and I prefer the smaller dainty size. They’re snug to my septum and don’t hang far down. Additionally, the small clear retainers are perfect for hiding the jewelry while still keeping a hole open. If you don’t have the patience or small fingers to fiddle with getting these in, I wouldn’t recommend them for you. The staple style ones also fall out pretty often, but work great for hiding a septum piercing for a few days if you have nostrils that don’t allow for flipping easily. For me, these are awesome, and just what I wanted and needed. They’re good for the price considering you might lose a few here or there. YES they are small but YES there are people who prefer this size! ... show more

I bought this so i could have something easily concealed while at work, because stuffy businesses in the south still frown upon facial piercings. The one that's kind of shaped like a long staple works great in my septum for this purpose. The horseshoe shaped ones are a bit smaller than what one would normally wear in their septum, but still work and are really cute, you just can't really flip them up if you needed to conceal it ... show more

Personally, these fit me great and I'm very happy with my purchase; however, if you have a nose that's on the bigger side, I would try looking for something else. These are pretty tiny, but if you have a smaller nose it should be perfect for you.
