I wanted to try this out to replace my Mach 3 razors for a cheaper price, but they don't seem to shave as close. The shaving cream I did not care for as it didn't lather up like I wish it did. I will be going back to my tried and true for a closer shave.

I was hoping that these DSC would be the pancea to my daily shaving needs. As a customer that is weary of paying exorbitant prices for off-the-shelf razors, I was hoping these would be the solution. Awesome weight and feel in the hand. Top notch packaging, customer focus and price for sure. However, two things struck me about these razors. They are not as sharp as other off-the-shelf brand names and I find myself having to make 6-8 passes over whiskers instead of 2-3 with other name brands (i.e., Gillette). This tends to make shaving a 10 minute ordeal instead of a 5 minute ordeal which I'm accustomed to. The second issue is the deal breaker for be. The fastener mechanism that holds the shaver blade cartridge on the handle is poorly engineered in my opinion and loses its hold, causing it to pop off while shaving. Also, the handle button that releases the blade cartridge head is ergonomically located in the exact location where one would want to position their finger while shaving in a downward motion. This leads to frequent "user error" releases of the shave head in the middle of shaving as the user inadvertently pushes the "release" button while making downward shaving strokes. You have to train yourself to hold the blade in less comfortable manner to get the job done. These are not problems that I have ever experienced with other shaver models. I will keep searching for brand/model that works better Update: Just wanted to update this review which I did a few weeks ago. This morning I dropped the shaver while using because of the aforementioned poor ergonomics and awkward handling. The center pin of the locking mechanism was dislodged from the handle upon impact with the sink and promptly disappeared down the drain. Also, the shaver head was broken. This leaves me with 5 unused blade cartridges that need to be discarded unless I want to purchase a new handle. I'm lowering my rating from 2 stars to 1 star. This was ultimately a waste of money and my time. I think I'll give the Amazon brand shavers a go next as I doubt they could be worse then this experience. Hope this helps those of you looking for a high quality, simple, economical shaving solution. ... show more
