"Snaggy shaggy ratty matty." The Self Cleaning Deshedding Brush, for Dogs & Cats, from Doggiez Pet Supplies is a retractable curved metal comb with a handle. The brush will get deep enough to easily remove loose hair from your furry four legged friends. The brush does a good job of capturing loose hair. The self cleaning part, not so much. My copy of the brush have a wedge shaped comb with the thick part in the back and the thinner part as the business end. The opening, in order to fit the wedge comb, is as tall as the thickest part of the comb. When retracted, there is a big "hole" where the comb used to be. The bottom of the comb is the only part that sit flat on the housing. Only the hair caught on the bottom of the comb is pushed out by the housing when the comb is retracted. The top of the comb doesn't make contact with the top of the housing. Unless there is a thick tangle of hair, taller than the housing, the hair caught on the top of the comb will not release when the comb retracts. Which means you'll still need to clean the comb. Cleaning hair from the brush is not a big deal, but it's just a missed opportunity for what is otherwise a good brush for furry pets. ... show more

This didn’t collect much fur from my very short-haired Great Dane, who prefers a rubber-coated brush anyhow, and the comb is far too short to get the undercoat of my double-coated German Shepherd. But its time to shine came when I used it on my son’s poodle. I had to work slowly when I came upon a knot, but it seemed pretty painless and did a fabulous job ridding her of a probably 8 ounces of shedding fur! Bonus: she literally leaned into it and really enjoyed the brushing! By the time we were done, she was left with a shiny coat and looked like she had just come from the groomers (without the silly bows in her hair!). The retractable comb is pretty ingenious. When you retract the teeth, most of the fur is left behind and falls off. The little that remains can be wiped off easily. It’s a great product. Just be aware that if your best dog friend has a thick undercoat, steer clear of this brush. ... show more

    • The hair cleans out of this brush in a literal second, it’s amazing
I used this on my cat and since I’ve never used one like this before it was a little tricky at first to figure out how to properly hold and apply pressure with this brush. I figured it out, but then u went to empty the hair and I assumed there was no way it would just be as simple as retracting the brush blades, I thought the hair would maybe get stuck up in the slot it comes out of but it didn’t! You can brush off as much hair as you want and this thing drops it all at once like a hot potato. It is GLORIOUS ... show more

If you've got a dog that's shedding fur all over your house and you're sick of cleaning it, you need this brush. This deshedding brush works well on long or short furred dogs. I'm using it on two German shepherds. They have a thick coat and this brush has stainless steel teeth that get to the underfur to brush it. The handle on the brush is thick enough to fit in your hand easily. It's not a heavy brush but it's substantial enough to tame the fur of the longest furry animals to short haired dogs. The button on top presses down and forward to lock the brush in place. When the brush is full of fur or you're done, whichever comes first, just press the button and the the brush retracts, leaving all the fur to just lift away and trash. The blades might look intimidating but I rubbed this brush over my skin and even pressed the end of the blade firmly with my thumb and it's not painful. There's no sharp wires that stick your pet. I think your furry family members will love this brush as much as my German shepherds do. If you're sick of all the loose fur flying all over your home, get this brush. ... show more

Have used this on a Lab and a Malinois for there winter undercoat (FL) and I am amazed at how much hair it removes without the dogs showing any discomfort. I would not try going against the grain tho. Must have for shedding dog owner/handlers.

    • Great brush for your little fur balls.
I have a giant fluffy cat. He's an enormous long haired haired tuxedo. He gets lots of tangles and this works great to get him cleaned up and tidy. This gets through the tangles with ease and it is even easier to clean. The fur comes up with a push of a button.

I was skeptical about the brush but ran it through my dogs hair in short strokes. Then longer strokes after that and it removed a lot of hair. It does not come with instructions indicating the best angle to hold the brush for best results. So you will have to figure that out on your own. Maybe it’s different for different types of hair? ... show more
