  • Works exactly as claimed
Style: Economy - Up to 18' Or 2,000lb Pattern Name: Docking System
A neighbor had one and decided to get one too. Need to add clips to the end of the ropes to make it easier to attach and unattached from your boat for a quicker mooring process. You should customize for your specific boat cleat or bow eye.

  • Held up much better than expected
Style: Economy - Up to 18' Or 2,000lb Pattern Name: Docking System
Wow, so I must say that I got these mooring whips just in time, otherwise I likely would have a sunken boat. I have been holding off buying these for over a year. I wanted something that would help hold my fishing boat away from the dock as it was getting damaged by passing boats. I found these and really like the price, but my boat is right on the edge of the maximum weight. I decided to go for it given the great price. Install was super easy, I think it took less than 30 minutes. They work great at keeping the boat sitting around 3 feet away, but no further. On Labor day we had a massive wind storm that lasted over 10 hours. We were getting sustained 50+ mph wind directly pushing my boat towards the dock. There were huge wave that were throwing the boat around like crazy. Several other boats in the area got thrown up on dock or shore. I pretty much decided that there was no way these little whips were going to save my boat, I expected that they were going to snap at any moment. Well, they didn't snap, they held up perfectly in over 10 hours of serious abuse. The Whips mostly held the boat away from the dock, except during the major gusts where it would only lightly touch against the dock bumpers. I have no damage at all on the boat from the storm other than the bimini top getting torn off, which nothing could prevent. This is probably one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. ... show more

It works great keeping your boat away from docks even in rough water

  • Tougher than they look
Style: Economy - Up to 18' Or 2,000lb Pattern Name: Docking System
I have had these for three years now on a lake in Central Florida where the winds can be vicious. These poles have kept my 18 ft Aluminum Ranger away from the dock and pointed into the wind. There are some signs of wear and tear now. Spider cracks at the base but nothing to concerning. I might wrap them at the base just above the mount with a few layers of fiberglass. It is just amazing how much these things take. Easy to use. Releasing the pressure on the lines I can easily pull the boat to the edge of the deck and step into the boat to release the ropes. I would buy these again in a second. ... show more

  • Boston Whaler 13' GLS

The Mooring whips are good for my use. The only issues are, I feel they could have made the bases with slightly larger cleats. Also I think better rollers on the tips would have been good. Maybe I am wrong, time will tell. Comes with stainless steel lag bolts & washers. Also comes with plenty of rope. I used my own aluminum docks specific hardware to attach to the rail & 1 lag from the kit. I am reasonably pleased considering how much I spent. ... show more

  • Great product and would purchase again
Style: Economy - Up to 18' Or 2,000lb Pattern Name: Docking System
We purchased two sets of these for two different size fishing boats. One boat is 16.5’ Lund and the other is 17’ Tracker which are both located on the biggest lake in NH which can have very high winds and lots of current. I wasn’t sure how well these would work but to date they have been great and there is no damage to the boats at all. I would definitely purchase again and/or recommend to anyone considering the purchase. The cost of boats are extremely high so why not spend money to protect them ... show more

  • Fantastic for a 13’ jimmy skiff in varying water depths
Style: Economy - Up to 18' Or 2,000lb Pattern Name: Docking System
I am more than pleased with the product and the solution to my problem (keeping the boat off the dock, esp when the water depth changes drastically and regular bumpers won’t work) These boat whips worked better than I expected for my 13’ jimmy skiff. I purchased the 8’ economy whips and they hold the skiff 2-3 feet off the dock along with a bow/stern line and the spring line...even in a stiff breeze that tries to push the boat toward the dock. The boat is held perfectly still in all directions. When the water in the lake goes down (and it can go down several feet), I just adjust the lines. I love it! It was also super easy to set up and install (I am not super handy): drill holes, drill bolts in, and that is it! ... show more

  • holds the boat off the dock, but there's more...
Style: Economy - Up to 18' Or 2,000lb Pattern Name: Docking System
I bought the 8ft "economy" whips to keep my 16 foot fish/ski runabout with a 70 hp outboard off the dock. The whips are strong enough to do that; however, apparently on the "economy" model, the thing that makes it economy is that it is missing an essential part -- the roller pulley that should be at the tips of the rods. Instead, the instructions say that the rollers pulley's are "optional." They really are not optional unless you want your ropes to be grinding against exposed bolt threads 24/7, day in, day out. The inexpensive nylon pulleys should be standard equipment, not optional. To make matters worse, there are no instructions on how to go about ordering these "optional" pieces. ... show more
