My first one came in damaged packaging, and the hook was missing. I contacted the seller and they immediately shipped a replacement. So that was great. This is light weight and extendable I have used on the boat, with my camper, and also at home with our pool to get floats, and other items out of reach. I have also swapped the hook for a window brush to help clean off the RV solar panels. It has been very versatile for me and love how lightweight. It comes with an Allen wrench I did have to use to tighten the friction clips so it would stay in the position I wanted, but only the once so far.

This review is for the carbon fiber telescoping boat hook, at a price of $75.99. I obtained this to use as a general purpose hook tool for my workshop. This telescoping boat hook is made from real carbon fiber and is amazingly lightweight and strong. The clamps are easy to use and adjust, and the acme-threaded tip of the pole is very well machined and high quality. The boat hook attachment appears to be nice and strong and the included nylon/neoprene cover makes a very nice addition to this tool. I did have to slightly adjust the clamps using the supplied hex wrench, but it only required about 1/4-1/2 turn of tightening of the fastener on the back side of each blue clamp to fine tune the clamping strength. The full length of the pole including the boat hook attachment was 47.25" collapsed, and 149.5" fully extended. Overall, I am very pleased with this and it will make a great addition to my workshop.

This boat pole is fantastic! It does require some adjusting out of the box, open each latch and tighten with the included allen wrench until there is a little friction moving the section in and out. Now when you close the latch the pole is rock solid and can be used for pushing or retrieving. The hook is easily threaded on but as a bonus you can use this pole with other screw on attachments like a brush head or a paint roller. This pole is very rigid, strong, and lightweight, much more so than traditional extension poles. It also includes a protective storage bag but I won’t be using that, this pole will be in constant use for a lot of things. I have solar panels on my house and this will make cleaning them so much easier due to the light weight and rigidity.

This thing came out of the box in like a little neoprene sheath with the hook loose inside the box. Easy enough, screw the hook on top, open the little clasps, extend the sections like a tripod and done. Well, no actually. It would not stay extended and I fiddled around thinking it would not be useable or you could only use it fully extended. I looked down and saw an Allen key that had also come from the box. There are two collars at every section. One (the lower) is fixed in place and factory tight. Do nothing to that one. The other (upper) was an easy to see and find blue throw lever. That one is adjustable with the key. So, open the latch, give it half turn, close the latch and test the push / pull. Once that step was done I realized I now had a very light, very compact, and very useful tool. You can use it closed or individually open sections to make it as long as you want.

After a few years of using the cheap, aluminum boat hook provided as a freebie with my boat, I figured it was time to upgrade to something nicer, more durable, and stronger. This is an extremely nice boat hook. The carbon fiber makes it very lightweight but also stiff. It doesn't flex much at all, even will fully extended. The clamps hold securely, and their tightness can be further adjusteed with a hex wrench. The threaded head makes the pole universally useful for multiple applications. I can attach cleaning heads, dusters, or squeegees for the boat or for around the house like second story windows or the high chandeliers and ceiling fans. I worry about using heavier aluminum extension poles and whacking the glass windows or lights when they're fully extended as they become unwieldy. It's much easier to manipulate the carbon fiber pole. It's definitely much more expensive, 2 to 3 times the cost. But I figure just a single window replacement would be twice what this pole costs. It's almost a shame to use this exclusively as a boat hook.

This is a strong telescopic pole made up from four sections of lightweight carbon fiber tubing that each fit snugly inside the next one. There are clamps to hold them each at the selected level of extension, with quick release toggles that are adjustable via Allen screws. That means infinitely adjustable between 3.5 feet collapsed and 12 feet extended. Much like my carbon fiber photography tripod and monopod, but a lot longer! While it comes with a screw-on plastic boathook, it actually has a standard 3/4" thread commonly used for paint rollers, squeegees, cleaning brushes and other hand tools to extend their reach. That alone makes it an incredible useful tool to have around - in contrast to the flimsy painters' poles and heavy metal poles. Think upstairs window cleaning, cobweb removal from high corners or ceiling fans, etc. I also have lightbulb changing heads that will fit this. I might not get to keep it on the boat.

This is a surprisingly well manufactured DOBEN carbon fiber telescoping pole. It weighs less than two pounds, yet has an expanded 12 feet reach. The pole ends in a 3/4 inch treaded stud that you can attached the included boat hook as well as any other tool that screws onto a 3/4 inch tread (like window squeegee, mop attachments, etc. Each of the three extension components has a latch nylon buckle to secure the extension at the specific length you want. It includes a wrench to adjust/tighten each buckle if necessary after use. The pole has a removeable end cap that allows any trapped water to drain out. Even at full extension the pole is sturdy and capable of considerable pull strength. Reasonably priced considering it is carbon fiber.
