Description

Every inquisitive little girl wonders what it is really like to be a genuine princess. At the heart of Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots? lives an energetic, spirited, and contemporary child who has lots of important questions for her mom. Do princesses ride tricycles, climb trees, do chores, or have to eat the crusts of their bread? The mother's voice is timelessly reassuring as she answers her daughter's questions and advises her that being like a princess has to do with what we are on the inside. This heart-warming book offers a gentle lesson about self-acceptance, and will inspire children to follow their dreams and leave their own mark on the world. Read more

  • This is a Wonderful Book for a Little Princess!
My three-year-old daughter loves anything that has to do with princesses, as I'm sure most young girls do! She loves for me to read to her as much as I love it so I figured I would look for a princess book that we didn't already have for part of her birthday present. Prior to this book, we didn't have any books written by Carmela LaVigna Coyle but I'm pretty sure that will be changing soon! This book is made of thick, glossy board book pages with colorful, fun illustrations and a cute story. At roughly 32 pages, the story is short enough for little attention spans which is perfect for a young toddler! I also noticed that this book is part of a series so we will most likely be purchasing more of the Princess Series books in the near future! This book is about a little girl who asks her mom all kinds of questions about princesses and what they do. On one page the little girl asks the question and on the opposite page, the mom answers in a rhyming way so when the two sentences are read together, they form a short rhyme. The little girl asks her mom if princesses climb trees, do any chores, and eat the crusts of their bread, just to name a few. They are basic questions about what any child would do and it shows that any girl can be a princess which I think is a really awesome way to tell a story. I love the way the story ends with "A princess is a place in your heart." Overall, I'm very pleased with this book and plan to buy some more from the Princess Series in the future. I would like to buy board books for as long as possible so they hold up longer and we already had all of the other ones that appeared in my initial search for princess books so I was delighted to find several more books that fit my needs! My daughter said she loves this book and I'm happy with it so we would recommend it to anyone with a little girl who loves reading about princesses! ... show more

  • Am I A Princess As I am?!?
This wonderful book helps conversations with your child about still being a Princess no matter what they like to do. It begs the question to your child, "So what do YOU think a Princess is?!?" and "What do you love that would mean you are NOT a Princess?!? Helps children to solidify their identities as good people no matter what they love to do. Super great illustrations attract the attention of your child. Perfect content for parent-child discussions. ... show more

  • Great for girls!
I bought this when I found out I was having a niece. Eight years later it is still one of our favorite books. It’s amazing for promoting young girls’ self-esteem!

  • Memories
We had this same book for our daughter and now we purchased it for our granddaughter! So many wonderful memories of reading this to our daughter, when she was younger.

  • Beautiful book!
Love this book! My nieces ask for it every time we do FaceTime story time. It is beautifully illustrated and is written in a way that keeps my almost 3 & 5 year old nieces engaged. A wonderful message for young girls. Highly recommend!

  • They do not come like brand new but the book itself is great!
Love the book itself but when it came the first time, the book jacket was torn on the top. Since it was a gift for my grown daughter, it would not look good. I got a replacement after I returned the first one. You would think they would inspect more carefully. At the bottom of the book jacket, there is black/ grey marks. I am not going to be bother returning this one again. I bought this one along with the other two so I get the free shipping. ... show more

  • Great message and illustrations
This is so me! For my birthday my sister sent me a tiara (so now my friends call me "the princess" also because I'm the only girl in my family with my 2 boys and husband) and when I went hiking on the AT with my BFF she referred to us as "hiking with 3 Eagles and a Princess." (Eagles = Boy Scouts Eagle rank.) So when I saw this book in the store I just HAD to order it for myself even though I'm an adult. I always have loved children's books. I'm saving all my favorites from when my boys were younger too! It is a wonderful story about being able to do anything as a female. ... show more
