This item is painted black and said wood grain is impossible to see. 2) there were 2 dents on the handle of the cane. I am new to the cane world due to my recent surgery. The nurse gave me an ugly steel "surgical" cane for free to use. A standard round curved handle cane is nice for support or if you have difficulty walking. But if you are supporting your body weight when you are trying to get up from a chair or bed, you really want a flat head so your hand or palm can lean on it better to give your body the stability and support you need. This cane is so beautiful, you can use it as a gentleman's walking stick or just ordinary cane use. The handle is wood. The body is metal with a gorgeous colored pattern on it. I was recently told by the doctor that my foot was heal enough to practice walking but was told to use the crutches instead of giving me a cane. No way, I'm practicing walking with two crutches after having to hop around with crutches for months. I saw this affordable stylish cane on Amazon and ordered. It's definitely helpful and doesn't have that grandma/grandma look to it. It's not the most expensive cane but it works perfectly fine. I'm definitely a satisfied customer and would recommend.
