abunda_amazon_reviews Got to use my Osmo Action for a few days now, definitely impressed. Upgrading from a Hero3+ from years ago, got to say action cams has really come a long way. I must start with the Rocksteady feature-- the stabilization results of the video footage is so seamless. It's surprising how well it produces results electronically. Let's talk about other image stabilizing technologies that are in the industry right now-- example a mechanical IBIS you find in mirrorless cameras. IBIS sometimes causes image warping because the camera sensor is shifting from countering your hand movement. Not only that, IBIS just stabilizes your image marginally, you'd still need a gimbal to really get a steady image. Another example is when you're stabilizing a normal video footage in post with a video editing software like iMovie or Final Cut Pro X, your image will sometimes suffer from warping or even vibration blur from the user's footsteps. You DO NOT GET ANY OF THESE ISSUES in the Osmo Action and its Rocksteady feature. You just get a stable video clip, EVERY TIME. I'm such a big fan of this stabilization technology. It keeps its small form factor without needing a bulky gimbal to pack around. It just works. Next feature that is a big upgrade from the old Hero3 is that the Osmo Action has a screen. A very large screen for that matter. The Hero3 didn't have that and I'd always have the guess what's in the frame of what I'm recording. Not only does it have a screen, it has a second screen in the front of the camera that you can switch to. Pretty ideal for vloggers and taking selfies (pretty sure that's the main point of the design), but there are tons of scenarios where that front screen will come in handy for you to monitor what's in frame wherever you're mounting this thing. I do wish there was a function to have both screens to be turned on at the same time, that way the subject can see what I'm seeing. Maybe in a firmware update in the future? Listing some other features that I like, there is a D-Cinelike picture profile that makes the image somewhat "flatter" for better editing and do some color grading. Variety of frame rates, this thing records up to 60fps at 4K and 240fps at 1080P allowing you to do some incredible slow motion video. With all of its capabilities, I can really see how people can find more opportunities to use a device like this. I know when I was still using the old Hero3, I would take it along with me with my travels and would use my main mirrorless camera and only use the Hero3 if I'm capturing images near water since action cameras are water proof. So sometimes it just remains in my bag and never gets used. With the Osmo Action and its smooth hand held shots, I'll be using it all the time! Excited to take this along on a trip. Have fun with this awesome piece of technology, guys!;;Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2019;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Incredibly Stable Video Footage!;;mavennium;;;First and last DJI product I ever purchase. Let's start: 1. Updates typically break something on the camera or app. This in turn requires time to "find a solution", patch, and repeat. 2. They have downgraded the device via firmware patch. The have made the rocksteady image a lower quality that does not stabilize as much. The only reason I bought this was better stabilization than the Go Pro Hero 7. Now it is worse. 3. The device requires activated. Yes. Before you can use the device you have to go through a legnllngthy process to activate it which requires setting up a DJI account. 4. Requires too many permissions. To connect the camera to your phone you have to give the app access to location, bluetooth, and wifi. This in turn renders your phone unable to connect to the internet since the camera uses it. You do not have an option. If you wanna use bluetooth OR wifi you're out of luck since it requires both. So just a short scenario for the above point: you took a nice video you want to share on the social media of your choice. Turn on wifi. Turn on bluetooth. Turn on location. HOPE that the app finds your camera as it is notoriously unreliable, then HOPE that after the app finds it it can actually connect. From there you have to use the obtuse DJI app that never let's you know of transfer has started to your phone because of how buggy it is. Now after all that you then get to go back through, turn off wifi, turn off bluetooth, and turn off location. I wish I was making this up but sadly I'm not. The Osmo Acrion and the Mimo app that is required is a prime example of one of two things: 1. Someone with an idea of a product but zero idea on how to do it. 2. Someone wants to gain access to as much as your device as possible to mine all the information they can. And let's face it, DJI has been around long enough to know the game so let's guess which scenario is more likely.;;Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2020;;1.0 out of 5 stars;;Competent Hardware Ruined by a Terrible Company and Software;;Paul Chinn;;;Hands down the best action camera on the market, even after the Hero 8's release. Previously, the only real drawback was the fact that the screen had a full 1.5 second delay while recording when image stabilization (rocksteady) was turned on. The most recent free firmware update has fixed this entirely. I'm not sure if new units will ship the improved firmware, but it's a breeze to update from the DJI app on your phone. The image quality is more DSLR like than anything else, the colors are more true-to-life, the shooting options are limitless and you can still use nearly every GoPro mount out there. Mine has survived super salty oceans and ridiculous rain on the side of a car and still performs perfectly. I may never buy a GoPro after this. I think DJI has just manged to turn out a better product overall. Plus the price just keeps going down making it an even better value.

...Big Goodies In A Little Box!
...I read all the reviews, the comparisons with the GoPro-8, watched a ton of videos...then ordered this. It arrived ontime and well-packed...so well it was tough to get outta the box! LOL!....But have been testing it out in various conditions...and it has shined so far with everything I threw at it. Easy to use, video-quality is Escellent...and the image-stabilization is Amazing! ...Also, the dewarp function works very nicely to remove the dreaded fisheye look. Seriously consider this if you are in the market for an action-cam!
