I bought this in the Fairy Garden version and also the dinosaur version. The fairy garden one was great through and through- no complaints. HOWEVER, the dinosaur one not only broke, but the paints were also all dried up. (Luckily I had paints on hand but the side is broken.) There was nothing else wrong. The light on both is soft and yellow/dimmed. It is perfect for a little kid project and relatively simple to put together. Product seems to be hit or miss so just be aware before you buy.

This is an excellent gift for someone who enjoys puzzles and books. It's unlike any other book nook I've seen because it's more like a puzzle than a doll house. There are no other tools required. Would be a good project except the paint was dried out (turned to a rubber blob, presumably was acrylic or similar) only a month after purchase (paints are in individual sealed containers. Unable to return or refund by the time we found out, after giving it as a birthday gift. Buyers beware.

My 8 year generally enjoys block-building sets but I think this was a bit challenging for her. It took her many hours, over several days. I had to help her a few times so adults need to stick around to make sure things go smoothly. The sequence and order of assembly is important; you can't skip ahead. I'd recommend this for kids over 10 who have a lot of patience.

I got this little DIY kit for my Grandson who loves dinos. The kit comes with everything you need to complete the nightlight. The wood is pretty simple to pop out and the directions are easy to follow. My only complaint is that it is a little advanced for my Grandson to do on his own. He was able to paint by himself but the assembly was more involved than he could do on his own. I gave it 4 Stars because it is a cute project and once it is together it seems to be sturdy and long lasting. If you get this set just be prepared to help your little one put it together. Overall a great DIY project for the dinosaur lover in your life!

This light is adorable and works well once it is assembled. My main issue is that it says this could be okay for kids ages 7+ and I don't know many 7 year old kids that could put this together on their own. I do think however a 7 year old would be successful doing this with an adult. The light comes with adequate instructions and looks great when it is finished. The paint is cheap as expected but gets the job done. You could use your own paint for better effects. The overall project is a good value but I think the target age of use is around 7 but the target age to complete alone is much higher.

I gifted this to a kiddo who wasn't that interested in it. The instructions seemed a bit confusing for him and it was a bit clunky. I love the concept of the layered custom colored look and was so looking forward to it, but I'm only docking a star becuase it wasn't received well from the kid.
