  • Fantastic value, fun guitar
Full disclaimer, experienced luthier here: The wiring needs a little love but works ok as supplied and for $220 this is just a screaming deal. Everything is here, is neat and clean and reasonably functional as is. The supplied strings are meh, especially for the 12 string neck but with these kits I always assemble and play first to see if there are any deeper issues before I put a finish on the thing and they're a perfect throwaway set for that. At the end of the day it's hard to find anything bad to say at this price point. It sounds and looks great and is a fun and unique guitar(s). If you're reasonably adventurous and know how to hold a screwdriver and use the internet I think you can do this just fine. Every screw has a correct place, they're not labeled but take your time and think through where they go based on how many of each size you have and you'll be fine. ... show more

  • Great customer service. Very happy
I’m a 70 year old retired engineer and part time musician wannabe. This kit was fun and surprisingly, it sounds great. The hardest part is get it the paint the way you like it. I used a mahogany stain with several coats of spray on polyurethane. It came out great but you have to be a bit meticulous if you want good results. The biggest plus I can give this company is for the customer service. I had a couple of issues with the kit and sent an email to them. I had the answer and the fix by the next morning. The second time for a different concern was answered in the same day. This is the reason for the 5 stars. The kit was well made and everything fit and all the pre drilled holes lined up perfectly. I did throw out the strings that came with it and installed my own. The only thing that could be better in my opinion, is the instructions . There is a video that I used which was very helpful but there was no narration, only background music. This could be made better. All in all and considering the price, this is a good deal and fun to build. ... show more

  • Not recommend for beginners
If you have experince tweaking guitars and some knowledge of electronics you can make this thing sound great. However, my kit had a few flaws. There are different screws unlabeled in the same bags. The strings were unordered in 5 different bags and the electronics were not wired up properly. It was partially working but not all properly. It did come with a schematic diagram so I can fix it pretty easily but since I haven't soldered in years I will need to get some soldering equipment. ... show more

  • Absolutely Excellent
I've been wanting a double neck for a while, but they're expensive. This was inexpensive, and I thought, "I can adjust anything to make it nice". Well, the only adjustment I had to make was to the truss rod. It was very minimal. It plays well, sounds good and was a lot of fun to build. I am mechanically inclined, so I'm sure that helps, but I really think anyone could put this together. It only goes together one way. I would highly recommend this kit. This is Minwax Ebony stain with a satin polyurethane topcoat. The satin feels great on the neck and looks great on the body. ... show more

  • wiring is a mess
Controls do not adjust volume at all. Have tried replacing volume pots then replaced all pots. have rebuilt wire harness according to the diagram included with the kit and still no good. Then cannot find any tech support or replacement parts. I cannot recommend this kit to anyone. Have built many great guitar kits this is by far the worst. The company offered a full refund but has never responded back to me. Any review claiming this is a good kit obviously never bought one. ... show more

  • Good Kit for the money!
I had to sand it for hours. Put upgraded everything on it. It's a great kit for somebody who knows how to upgrade a guitar. A beginner with limited knowledge will be baffled by the wiring. Instructions are not included and the video online is horrible. Make sure you have better stings to put on it. Because, the 12 strings in that set were so tangled. I just threw both sets in the trash. The pickups are the worst on the market. So you'll want to use better ones. Better pods and better switches. Although I knew that when I bought it. For $200 bucks and $600 in upgrades I have a nice dual neck. ... show more
