  • Great game for young girls, nice dual play option
We have a 7 year old and a 4 year old. Both really enjoyed the game, but especially our 4 year old. We took our time exploring and using magic on stuff rather than just trying to finish and spent about 20-30 minutes on each of 12 chapters, usually only one chapter per session. Our youngest likes it so much that the game has inspired her to use her imagination to play with her princess dolls. She will play for an hour or more engrossed with her "Princess Wii" dolls (i.e. Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Jasmine, and Bell) imagining them in situations inspired by the game. The other thing we really liked about the game is that the princess is controlled using both the controller and the nunchuck. The controller controls the magic wand and the nunchunk controls where the princess goes. This was great for allowing both of our girls to play together at the same time taking turns on each controller. When our 4 year old played alone, my wife or I used one control. Our 7 year old could handle both controllers at the same time. Lastly, the 4 main princesses (Bell is a mini game, mainly just an excuse to include Bell) each have 3 chapters with two princesses listing the difficultly as "Easy", one "Medium", and one "Hard". However, even for our 4 year old none of the games was really very hard. If you're looking for a game with great game play this is probably not for you, if you're looking for a game with a story to engross little girls who love princesses, then this game is perfect. Even the ending was done pretty well. ... show more

  • Great game for young players
I buy a lot of Wii games based on what I think my 2 children will be able to do with it, they are 4 and 6. This game is great for them. The 6 year old can play this by herself without adult assistance which rates this game very high on my list. the 4 year old loves it, but requires some help since the movement around requires use of the toggle on the nunchuk, and that requires some dexterity she hasn't perfected yet. the only thing that gets them is that if it's being played without adult assistance, then sometimes the boggs can surround the character can trap it, and the kids get quickly upset that they're being trapped and attacked. There is no killing in this game, the characters just loose magic on a meter, and the boggs turn into butterflies, so it's pretty harmless. the length of game is ok, the 6 year old has now beaten the game, with some help, in about 4 hours. I would recommend for young girls, but just realize that some dexterity is required since it requires use of both hands plus the left thumb at the same time. UPDATE: My 6 year old can now beat the game by herself now without assistance in about 3 hours. Doesn't stop her, she's played it all the way through 3 times in the last week. She says it is still SO much fun, so it hasn't lost it's appeal. I am hoping that I can find another game that requires similar skill levels. Also, this game has a pretty detailed, verbally narrated story line that they like, so there isn't any required reading of tiny cramped font words for young kids. ... show more

  • OK but Dad had to wear a dress.....
This review is for the Wii version: It would be nice if the game had the option for the 2nd character to play as a Prince/Male. I hope my kid is not mentally scarred for life by seeing her dad run around in a dress on the big screen..... Minus one star for how short it is: Myself and my kid played through this game in a few hours. Fortunately, at the time, Amazon was discounting this game heavily so I feel like we got an OK value. At the current price I would have felt ripped off. Once solved the game has almost no replayability. Minus one star because you can't vary the difficulty: This game would be better if you could set it on a "hard" level, let your princess die or something. As it is you have an onscreen meter (never called "health") that goes down when you are attacked. However, when your not-health runs out the meter is simply reset. That's great for the youngest one but makes the game very unchallenging for anyone else. Also, some of the mini games were inane. You could simply do nothing and you would still (eventually) win the game. Conversely other games were frustating for my kids. Make one mistake on the 5th level and go back to level one and do it all over again. It would be nice to have an easy mode for the mini games that are more forgiving. For example, only require repeating the current level of the mini game. Three stars for an overall neat game. My kid loved the fact that waving the Wii remote activated/controlled the magic wand. Genius. What a great example of using the Wii controls to add Wii value to a multi platform games. ... show more

  • Almost 5 yr old princess loves it
If you have a young girl at home who likes the Disney Princesses and are looking for a good Wii game... this is it. My daughter was able to pickup the controls pretty quickly and loves being able to create "magic" by waving her wand!. The story is straightforward enough and she did get lost a couple of times but it has been able to keep her interest. She has played it for a few hours and is making quick progress but it does seem it will have some replay value. I don't think it is a "long game" but for this age that is probably a very good thing. It really is amazing to see how her motor skills are definitely getting better very quickly. Early on someone will have to help young ones get up and running with the basics but after a while they are on their own. The "mean" characters are mischievous creatures that are really trapped butterflies...she doesn't find them scary and likes "freeing the butterflies". Good for young girls (again my daughter is almost 5)! ... show more
