The first thing I will say is do not lose that key it comes with as it is the thing that will help you set or rest your combination. There is a default combination. I love this lock in that it is a very strong lock. I yanked on it a few times and it did not break or even budge. The combination is on the bottom and for the most part everything well made so you are able to read the combination easily. It has survived the cold and heat so far. It did get a little bit of rain but I did not see any issues with rust or it not opening. This is a good lock to have if you want to secure say your side gate or even shed. I’ve bought several similar locks from them and they all work fine. I put a few drops of oil in the combo part. Very easy to change the combination. Convenient for medium level outdoor security. I use to lock ebike and lawnmower outdoors and use thick cables with the. No issues so far.

I selected this for the Recreation Department because they have various storage areas for equipment and electric panels at facilities. (Further update: This lock has been used on the tongue latch of the trailer out in the elements and still looks and operates as new. I love not needing to carry a key with me. I have way too many keys for locks I never can match up and I like knowing at least this lock I will be able to get open. And should I need to tell someone else the code, changing the code is extremely easy. Maybe it isn't Fort Knox, but is someone wants to do something bad no little lock is going to stop them. We have had people drive through locked gates with barbed wire on them and have even removed the trailer tongue and put their own on. This is to keep people who are tempted to do wrong from doing wrong. I also like using this to lock the tongue latch in place when I am pulling the trailer on the highway. We used to use a nut and bolt, but then I needed a nut and bolt and used it for something else. So this stays with that trailer and I really like having it.) (Update: Bought a new 14' utility trailer and aside from a tongue lock I wanted to make it harder to steal. Plus, while driving on the highway it is good to have something to secure the tongue latch in place. I have too many keys sitting around and always am getting them mixed up, or forget them. So I wanted to try a solid combination lock. This barely fit through the hole in the tongue latch, but being a new trailer I knew there would be excess paint in the hole, and with some work I got this to fit a little more easily. I really like having the combination. As long as I don't forget the code I much prefer this lock, and it feel pretty substantial. I like it.) The lock comes with easy to follow instruction in six languages. The initial setting is 0000. Turn the screw on the bottom with a standard screwdriver 90 degrees, choose your new code. Return the screw to the original position and you are ready to go. Piece of cake. While the body feels solid, there is no such thing as a lock you cannot force open. Either with a bolt cutter or in this case an angle grinder likely could remove the rivets on the bottom and give access to the interior. But thieves will find a way of they are determined. For the average situation this lock should work just fine. Open the distance from the underside of the shackle, or loop, is 2 7/8". Closed the opening is 2 5/16". Distance between the legs is 1". Overall length closed is 4 5/16". Solid little lock and worth the price. ... show more

Quality lock for inexpensive price. Good bit of weight to the lock and it was easy to set the code. Plenty of room to fit through chain or shed door closures. It is nice that you cannot change the code unless it is unlocked so it seems secure. Original use was to run a chain through luggage and lock them to bed of truck as you can't trust your luggage to still be there if you stop on road trips. ... show more
