  • Gen 2
Style: HD GEN II 5-30X56SFIR
I bought a gen 1, this gen 2 has a better illuminated redical and some other little improvements that make it worth the money. The Gen 1 I put on a 338 LM and have no issues. The lifetime warranty should help anyone who’s on the fence.

  • What a tank
Style: HD GEN II 5-30X56SFIR
Very nice image quality although not quite as bright as other scopes. Very solid built and adjustments are easy to make. Tracks very well and a good buy for what you receive. Feels like a good quality scope and I don't think I will ever have to use the warranty with it.

  • Well made!
Style: HD GEN II 5-30X56SFIR
I was skeptical about this brand of scope so I did some research on it ,( You Tube ) helped. I was surprised at how well it was made ! It has very large aquret turrets and the glass is clear even out to 30 power. The only scopes I've used with this clear of glass are Nikon, Nightforse, Sightron or higher end Vortex which cost $1000 or more and I see no chromatic aberration, the color an view are all the way to the edges. I liked it so well I purchased their 5x40x56 and another one of these 5x30x56 and are pleased with them all ! ... show more

  • Very impressed
Style: HD GEN II 5-30X56SFIR
I've ordered several scopes over the years. Some were cheap, some were not so cheap. The cheaper scopes may work fine but they always have some 'tell' about them that makes them easy to spot as cheap scopes. FFP scopes are generally not cheap but they can range in price from "cheaper" to "holy crap". So when I ordered this scope, which I'll put in the "little bit more than cheaper" category, I figured I would get a scope that was decent but had that "tell" about it that said it was cheaper than the "holy cow" FFP scopes. This scope does not have a tell that it's not a $$$$ scope. It's very well made with absolutely beautiful build quality. The optics are crystal clear and everything about this scope says it's really expensive. Scope rings are one of the tells as well. The included rings in this package are very well made and also beautifully crafted. I'm super impressed with this scope. Had not heard of this brand before but now I know. ... show more

  • Perfect
Style: HD GEN II 5-30X56SFIR
I own two scopes from this brand and I love them both. The glass is comparable to my much more expensive Leopolds. For a scope this high of quality you I would expect to pay 2-3 times the price. It has all the features and quality I want in a long range scope. The accuracy is great and the zero stop saves time and you don’t have to count revolutions to get back to zero. I would recommend ... show more

  • Wide field of view.
For the money this is a great scope. The field of view is amazing. Glass clarity is excellent. Tight eye box is the only thing I don’t like.

  • Another Discovery home run! Gen II New Model
Style: HD GEN II 5-30X56SFIR
I'm the first reviewer of this fantastic scope. I'm no stranger to the brand, as I 'discovered' them several years ago from a chap that sells high power air guns. He has had excellent service since some air guns can destroy a scope which works fine on magnum centerfire rifles. I have a half dozen of these older models. All have either HD or ED glass, 34mm tubes and 50mm objectives. They have excellent clarity and I've never had a single issue, ever. I have 43 scoped rifles and a dozen spare scopes, of every brand. My only dislike is the smaller size/feel of the older turrets. And since I have 5 Arken scopes, those turrets have spoiled me for life. I have also purchased the Discovery 5-25X56 (34mm tube) PRS scope here and the new 5-40X56 (35mm tube) directly from Discovery in China, since I couldn't find any stateside sellers, yet. That scope came in one week in excellent condition and with very detailed Tracking info, in BOTH English and Chinese! It was faster delivery than some 10-22 parts I ordered from the states. Go figure. The turrets on these newer Discovery models (including this 5-30X56 (34mm tube) are VERY large and VERY tactile. In fact, they sure look (and feel) identical to my Arken EP5s. This scope is everything I had expected and more. The package is bulletproof. Makes the packing on my $799 Vortex Strike Eagle look sorry by comparison. Downsides? None, except this is not a scope for general hunting. It's BIG, HEAVY and might be ok from a tree blind. It is more intended for benchrest, which is all I do. Nits? Just 2......... Both of these are also mentioned on several You Tube reviews....... #1 This scope along with the other 2 come with a flip up lens cap for the Objective and just a small round rubber cap for the Ocular. This is easily fixed with a Butler Creek #27 flip up. BTW, the #27 is sized for the Objective ends, They don't make an Ocular big enough. 46.5mm, that's how big the eyepiece is. ha ha. #2 No throw lever. The other 2 models mentioned above both come with a nice metal lever. No big deal. I just installed the inexpensive 'break away cat tail' device sold here. These are made for fishing rods and are tough and even look good. I have a couple of dozen of these on other scopes that didn't have throw levers. Since the mag ring has an OD of 48mm, I haven't found an aluminum one large enough, yet. In a couple of days, I'm going to be submitting a review of the new Arken SH-4J. In the text will some advice for folks who use reviews for purchase decisions. Amazon has made a mistake with the listings, later ron ... show more
