Description

The DiMarzio DP420 Virtual Solo hum canceling pickup combines the best qualities of the Virtual Vintage Solo and Solo Pro pickups: high output and a full, warm sound. Then it pushes these qualities even further. Treble response is smoother, the lows are tighter, and there is more pick attack. Play hard, and the sound jumps out of the amp. Play softer, and the sound becomes cleaner and quieter. And of course, there's no hum. DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Solo and Solo Pro pickups both have specific qualities DiMarzio likes a lot, but they felt the sound could be even bigger. Making the highs both fatter and louder without any loss of definition on the lows creates a bridge pickup that can sound both warm and intense, and the Virtual Solo hum canceling pickup performs equally well with clean and heavily overdriven amps.Specifications:Recommended For: Bridge PositionWiring Four ConductorMagnet Alnico 2Output 205mV DC Resistance 11.7K

  • Great replacement for a thin sounding Strat!
I have a few Areas which are in the vintage category. I needed something a bit stronger. I thought this might be too dark & hot. Not at all, which is a good thing. It has s full balanced sound for solos, cleans up nicely and still sounds like a Strat but with more oomph. Great pickup!

  • Made Me Like My Bridge Sound
I have a G&L S500 Tribute which is one of Leo Fender’s later Strat-like guitars. I replaced all of its pickups with Dimarzios. Got Cruiser Bridges at the neck and middle and a Fast Track 1 at the bridge. The Cruisers sound awesome but the Fast Track 1 sounds so sterile at the bridge position so I almost never select it. I decided to replace it with a Virtual Solo and I now select the bridge pickup a lot more. The Virtual Solo still sounds super tight and clear but I could still hear the nuances and dynamics of my playing unlike the Fast Track 1. It still won’t replace the sound of humbuckers but that’s not what I bought it for. I can’t say that it sounds like a true single coil but I prefer my S500 for cleans and edge-of-breakup tones over my humbucker-equiped guitars. Now with this pickup on the bridge I no longer stay away from any PU selection. ... show more

This is warm and full sounding for a single coil, ideal for a Strat bridge pickup.
