I’m a piano snob, and I had originally intended to teach my son to play on our baby grand. My fantastical rosy dreams of having my four year old play Mozart were shatterted by the reality of physics and anatomy - even with a great ear and exceptional focus skills, his fingers are just too small for the keys and he doesn’t have enough force in his his wrist and hand to adequately control the sound. So we turned to a tinny, electronic keyboard for the time being, and while I dislike any electronic instruments, this was perfect for my four year old. The keys are small enough and require no exertion to press down on, and it allows my son to learn to read and play notes and develop an ear without having to stress on the physical components that he’s just not ready for yet. I have also come to appreciate the value of external volume control; keyboards are not all that bad, I guess. And the mike is a big plus- it garners intetest and gets him going. ... show more

I bought this for my 2-year-old who loves to just press buttons and make sounds. It's very lightweight (he can pick it up himself) but sturdy so it won't break or hurt him if he drops it on his foot. The sound quality is great, and it's nice to not have a power cord dragging around that could get him tangled up, or replace batteries every few days. There are some built-in automatic rhythms/songs, and the ability to change instrument sounds with a few mashes of a button is thrilling to my child. On top of that, the piano keys are about 1/2 the size of normal piano keys, so they are great for small hands (so don't expect this to be very usable by anyone over 13 years old). There are 2 reasons I didn't give it a full 5 stars (mostly the 2nd one): 1. It comes with a USB charging cable, but no adapter to plug into the wall. These days, most people have a couple USB ports in wall sockets and stuff, so it's not a big deal for most people, but it would've been nice to have. 2. It doesn't retain the volume level when it goes to sleep and wakes back up. I love my kid, and I'm thrilled he has fun with this, but sometimes we will turn down the volume so his joyful cacophony doesn't give us a headache. However, a few minutes after he comes back to it, the volume is reset back to its initial LOUD volume. Given that it's a kids piano, it would be nice if there was a volume lock or something. Overall, this is a fantastic product and cheap enough that you won't feel like one of those parents who spends tons of money on a toy or instrument that their kid might not end up liking. I used this to learn the hand placements for a specific song. The sound quality was pitchy and off in some spots, making it hard to tell if the notes I was learning were correct (they were, but they sounded wrong). It's a fine learning device for something basic, but not the best quality if you want to learn complex or layered songs, as the chords end up sounding funny. Also, I have small hands, so this worked okay for me, but it's definitely modeled for kids, so adults may have a harder time with it. ... show more

This is a pretty good value for the keyboard itself. Decent tone and you can play chords. But the "microphone included" is absolutely false which they then supposedly ship to you once your claim is reviewed. That was 7 weeks ago and our status is still "pending." If you want to check the status, you have to create an account (all about getting your email address. My claim is apparently still pending. Here's what they say in the email when you register: "Gift Fulfillment may take up to 4-6 weeks to complete and rewards are subject to change based on availability. You can view your warranty status on our website. Just create an account and log in. A badge will then pop-up on the lower-left side of your screen. My granddaughter wants to play the piano so I bought this product so she could begin to learn the keys. As she progresses, I will upgrade in stages. She doesn't live with me however she was very impressed with her gift, and her mom says she enjoys it very much!!!
