For the price, I wasn't expecting much. If you go in expecting a lab quality microscope, you will be disappointed some. However, if you go in expecting a cheap little microscope, you are going to be very pleased. First thing to know, you can't focus at a specific zoom level. (or at least I can't) You will have a low zoom area on the adjustment that's clear and then usually a high zoom area that's clear. The image is clear and clean when you get the zoom correct, and the zoom is pretty impressive for the price. Once you install the free app on your phone, just plug in the scope and have fun. It says it only works with Android and iPhone, but if you have a Type C input on your PC or a type C to USB adapter, you can install the app with Bluestacks and run it on your PC. The software installed quickly, and the microscope was functioning immediately. I looked at my skin, my hair, a sponge, a dead insect and more and was amazed at the detail I could see. The microscope comes with an adjustable stand making it easier to focus on items. My 9 year old grandson was fascinated, and spent the evening using the microscope instead of playing video games. This can be educational and fun at the same time. I can see items in real time, or snap photos or record videos. It is very versatile.     • One of the better digital microscopes that I’ve used
The media could not be loaded. This digital microscope is very useful for a number of reasons like, reading tiny print, inspecting things at a magnified level, research, school projects or anything needed to magnify in general. I included a video which I magnified letters on a page and the box it came in. Installing the device and app is so easy! simply connect the cord from the microscope to your phone's charging port it should Download and install the app automatically. Then You then follow the prompts that display to give the app permissions and you're connected. You are also given the option to automatically launch the app whenever the microscope is connected. That is it. Almost the entire installation process except for allowing permissions to your device is done automatically and the microscope is ready to use. Just make sure you remove the lens cap. You may have to rotate the knob to find the optimum focus point, especially if things look dark or fuzzy. This is very educational and fun at the same time. It can scan items in real time, or snap photos and record videos. It is very versatile. The product description lists the magnification as 50X-1600X. The app also has a button that changes magnification from 1X to 1.5X and 2.X, although the view through my phone shows the magnification to be much greater than that. It is inexpensive and has a good app. this device does do a fairly impressive job of magnifying anything placed in front of its lens. I got this for eBay as my camera on my phone works well for selfies but fails to capture details close up. I played with this a bit as a microscope and it worked fine. I wish it worked with my computer and didn't require a phone but I didn't have time or the energy to figure out that setup. I wish it supplied more light. ... show more

    • Easy to use, Fun for Kids and Adults
The media could not be loaded. The set up was super easy, just plugging it in you phone and downloading the app. It was very useful for us, to detect small particles we found outside of our home. (Turns out they were flower seeds) We can see stuff that we never thought we would :O Love it! :)

    • Cool hardware functionality for the price, I am wary of the app's permission requests
I got this microscope more out of curiosity than actual need. I wanted to know what kind of a digital microscope $39 would buy. Well, although its construction is very much what one would expect for the price, it actually works OK. And the instructions, while very basic, are enough to get the job done and the device just plugged into my iPhone and immediately worked. It also immediately asked to communicate with the Shenzhen Inskam Technology Co. in China. Not cool and not a great introduction to the device. It also asked for access to my local network, which it doesn't appear to need, and for access to my photo library. I said no to all three, and was still able to manually save a photo to my desktop. The product description lists the magnification as 50X-1600X. I have no way of verifying or disproving this, but based on my working with the device, I am skeptical of the 1600X figure. The numbers 50X-1600X with up and down arrows are printed on below the focusing ring, although the focusing ring seems to just focus and not zoom. The app also has a button that changes magnification from 1X to 1.5X and 2.X, although the view through my phone shows the magnification to be much greater than that. So, apart from the ambiguity regarding magnification, inexpensive construction and slightly sketchy app, this device does do a fairly impressive job of magnifying anything placed in front of its lens. For the price, its fairly impressive and kind of cool. I'm sure i will find a number of situations where I will be able to use its capabilities, especially connected to an iPad. For the price, I think that the device is very good. I am very leery of the apps interest in stuff I don't think it needs and I will probably install and then delete it for each use. I do not like apps that as me for permission to communicate with the mother ship every time I plug in a device and which ask for permission to rummage around my local network. ... show more
