I have owned dickies in the past, but for some reason I always owned the larger, baggier versions, and so I stopped owning them as I grew out of that look. I currently work in a restaurant where I am required to wear black pants, and I used to wear cheap walmart slacks everyday, but these have become my new favorite. They have a good straight leg shape that also gives an indirect recognition that you do indeed have a butt, but without over announcing it like a pair of tight jeans would. The waist felt slightly snug the first time I wore them, but since then they have felt very comfortable. Depending on the pants, I wear either a 32 or 33 waist, but as 32s, these have a nice slim fit to them that won't allow them to sag, which is perfect for running back and forth at work. I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs, and the fit feels great on my legs as well. The material is very sturdy, as anybody who has worn dickies before would know, and therefore can withstand a good amount of abuse. There seems to be some conflicting opinions in the reviews regarding the fit of these pants - perhaps I can clarify. They are not slim fit in the sense that a modernly fashionable young man may think. By this I mean that they are not skinny jeans, they are not your girlfriends jeans, and they are not super butt hugging cowboy pants. They are, however, slim fit in a sense that a modern businessman may think, who can discern the difference between a casual style slack pant and a slim fit slack pant. In other words, there is definitely going to be some room between your legs and the pants, but they won't appear baggy. They'll look much more like straight leg jeans. I give these five stars as they perfectly fulfill my needs. They are not my favorite pants by any means, and I personally would very rarely wear them to any place except for work. But, I still do wear them almost every day, they are very reliable, and I am very happy with them.

I hate how sizing is so difficult nowadays. Slim fit, casual fit, loose fit, classic fit, athletic fit, etc. makes it impossible to just say waist and inseam and know if something is going to fit. Dickies is truly the worse for this. I have worn 874s for decades. Everyone knows you have to go up a size or two on the waist to what you would normally wear. I figured these would be the same, they look like 874s but I thought the “slim fit” would make the legs a little less baggy. I ordered the same waist as I order for 874s and they are a size to big. Even though they are supposed to be “slim”. I wish you could just order the size based on your measurements, or it would at least be consistent across a single manufacturer.

Feels and fits great in a slim, doesn’t look too baggy and material is thin and not stiff like the non Flex pant. I’m a 34 waist but for Dickies Slim, I buy 36 so that I have room on the groin area when I sit. Otherwise 34 would be still fit great but be tight on the groin area.

You know how you might catch a whiff of something, and it brings you back to your childhood? Maybe the smell of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies reminds you of your mother, and how she would bake you a fresh batch after you had a tough day in high school. Maybe you savor the scent of gasoline because it reminds you of the road trips you took with your father as he drove you up to college each semester. Or maybe you buy a pair of pants and it reminds you of your childhood pet. Let's say, for example a hamster. More specifically, the fragrance might even resemble the pungent stink of a filthy, urine-soaked cage. Yeah, that seems more accurate here. The pants reek. I don't know what they're made of, but they reek. I'm concerned that Dickies might have grabbed a handful of my hamster's soiled bedding a decade ago, and then proceeded to make a pair of pants out of it. I honestly think that would be a better alternative, because these pants are also not comfortable at all. Amidst the putrid smell, I tried these puppies on, and it was almost painful. They're so rigid and rough. There's such limited mobility in these pants, and I can't imagine ever breaking them in. If I had to wear these to work (as the listing suggests, this is a 'work pant.'), my legs would probably be raw by the end of the day. The color I got, Desert Sand, could not be more aptly named. These pants are practically made of sandpaper. In the future, I might be better off wrapping my legs in slabs of cardboard. If the smell and the comfort of the pants wasn't enough, the style is...well, not good. I'm not exactly Mr. Fashionisto, but these pants run as a strange sort of "slim fit." They're not flattering -- especially with the needlessly wide belt loops. Something about those do not look good; it's slightly '70s, ala The Brady Bunch. It's not all bad though. I can say that the fit is decent. I ordered my size - 32 x 32 - and the pants fit fine. Otherwise, there are two tubes where your legs go, so that's good. That about runs the gamut for positive attributes, though. Definitely returning these. I just ordered a pair of Dockers that are twice the price, but i'm happy to spend the money on presumably comfortable, stylish pants. I'm sure they won't smell like cookies or gasoline, but as long as I shy away from hamster piss, I'll be happy.
