My husband of 45 years passed away last year and had chosen not to be cremated, so I never even thought about having a memento like this one (I had only seen others who had them filled with ashes of a loved one). When I saw this very beautiful sterling silver necklace with the tiny urn inlaid with opal and diamonds, I was drawn to read the description, which mentioned using hair or perfume as an alternative to ashes. I thought hard and remembered I still had his hairbrush, as well as the last bottle of his favorite mens cologne. I carefully extracted a number of pieces of his short hair from the brush using tweezers, and was able to push it into the tiny vase using the little funnel and pin provided with the necklace. I spritzed it with the cologne as I was pushing it in, which helped it to go into the tiny hole more easily. I can unscrew the stopper when I choose to recall his scent, although it doesn't come open without my intentional pressure. Knowing I have a small sample of his DNA close to me is somehow a comfort, even though I know he is with his Lord Jesus, and I will see him again someday. I really love this treasure, and I thank whoever wrote the description for suggesting hair and perfume as an alternative to ashes.
