  • Fantastic Sleeper Sofa for This Range
Color: Yellow
Just got 'er in today, but I wanted to give a quick review of my experience thus far, because I'm so happy with my little yellow couch! I've broken my review down into subcategories for ease of comprehension. ORDERING AND DELIVERY: 5/5. Got here sooner than originally planned (ordered Sunday, received today, Friday morning; originally slated for a 7- to 10-day delivery time... underpromise and overdeliver, I see you, Amazon!). The box is a big, big boy. Not wide - maybe 18"ish or so across - but tall, almost 4 feet high, and heavy as a sonofagun (I'd guess 105 or 110 lbs). Fully assembled, a 5'8" or 5'9" person can fit perfectly comfortably both length-wise and seat depth-wise, sitting and laying down, so it's not a small piece. I'm glad I live on the main floor and that I was home to help the nice delivery guys slither the box up the stairs and through the door. Don't worry about porch pirates making off with this guy unless you live near kleptomaniac bodybuilders, because it ain't going nowhere without some serious help. ASSEMBLY: 4/5. I'm not the fittest gal around, nor am I particularly spatially gifted, but I'm fairly strong, and I have a rich and storied history with flat-pack/ready-to-assemble furniture. That being said, my 3 brain cells and I panicked when I first opened the box and I didn't see the legs or hardware anywhere. Look for the red plastic string dangling out of the main cushion when you take it out of the box! Open it up/unfold it and you'll find all the legs and hardware tucked in there sneaky-sneaky-like in a cardboard box. Everything was all there. I did break a decent sweat putting this thing together, which took me maybe 1h20m/1h30m. I had to pop a hole in the fabric on an arm piece because it hadn't been properly cut during manufacturing, but no biggie; there was a hole in the wood, just needed to take an Xacto knife and finish the job in the fabric. 5.5/10 difficulty for assembly; it's a large piece so it's pretty awkward and heavy to assemble yourself, but doable, and direction-wise, I've seen and assembled way worse. QUALITY AND COMFORT: 4.8/5. It's a $300 - $400 sleeper sofa, so I'm aware that it isn't gonna be solid hand-carved mahogany, stuffed with rare Norwegian goose down and/or an heirloom that will be a museum piece one day. But I knew that going in at this price point - if I get 5 or 7 years out of this guy, I'll be thrilled. As a couch, it's a perfect mix of squishy foam and supportive coils/frame. I've yet to sleep on it, and will update if needed, but I'm guessing it'll be a respectable enough bed for a family member/friend who's staying for the occasional long weekend or so. N.B.: I did deduct .2 points here. Like pretty much every couch that isn't overstuffed to begin with, it needs some throw pillows to make it perfectly snuggly, and I did subtract a teensy bit just because I don't think it'll withstand repeated abuse well - but for $300/$400ish, hopefully you knew that going in. If you've got young/destructive kids/grandkids, big dogs, claw-happy cats or if you yourself love to body-slam yourself down on the couch with all your might, you're gonna have a bad time with this couch, because it isn't built to handle that. But if you're single/a couple, only have the occasional guest, and/or have older/gentler kids/pets/you yourself and aren't gonna swing on it and beat it to death, I feel like it's solid enough to last you a good few years or more. My cats are ungrateful hellions who love to scratch all the nice things I own, so I'm bummed in advance that it's gonna have 18 million claw-sized puncture holes. VALUE FOR MONEY: 5/5. Well done Amazon for having the best price on this guy. Wayfair wanted $369 for it (sold under the name "Joy Sleeper Sofa by Foundstone"), and DHP's website (the company that manufactures this) wanted $444 AND they were out of stock. I picked up this boy for $299.99 and couldn't be more delighted to know that other people paid more than I did. OVERALL: 5/5. You're not buying a custom-made artisan sofa, you're buying a couch on Amazon that you have to put together yourself with a Munchkin-sized wrench and some ambiguous diagrams. It isn't gonna survive prolonged or repeated manhandling, but you already knew that going in. For a sleeper sofa of this price range, it's a fantastic deal, and you won't find better in its class. Will it last you 20 years of heavy use? No. But will it be a very cute little sleeper sofa that'll see you through the occasional houseguest and some normal sitting and lounging? Yes, and it'll look darn adorable the whole time. ... show more

  • Wonderful
Color: Green
Beautiful furniture, but hate having to put things together. Especially since all they send for instructions are pictures

  • Like A Hotel Couch
Color: Yellow
I assembled the couch almost entirely on my own (I am a small female), the only help I needed was to move it into a position that I could screw the pieces in the bottom. The yellow is a little darker than I expected but I still love it. It feels exactly like your basic Hotel couch. As for the assembly items, my only complaint is that the items provided were 1, not packaged well and 2, were very poor quality and made it more difficult to screw everything in. Overall, I am super happy with it and it fits great in my little library! ... show more

  • The best futon I’ve ever had
It took me about 2.5 hours to put it together and some of the wood was slightly warped which made it difficult to get screwed in just right in some spots. BUT this was absolutely the best futon I’ve ever had! I unfortunately had to leave it behind when my husband and i moved and i really miss it. I slept better on this futon than in our bed and i had very little to no pain upon waking up like i usually do. It was just right, and i definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfy and decent looking futon. I hope this is still around when we have the space for one again. ... show more

  • Great buy, little issue
Color: Green
Arrived 3 days earlier than scheduled. Easy to assemble but you have to make sure you keep all of the bolts loose before tightening as later in the process when you go to add another piece the bracket needs to wobble a bit to get the screws lined up. I would change the instruction to attach and not just put on the side rails as it is a lot easier to assemble to the corner brackets. It does not sit level but it is a no issue once you get on it. More than likely it is due to the different levels of tightening of the parts. SO SO SO VERY COMFORTABLE. I would buy the entire furniture set if they make one.(going to check today). ... show more

  • Updated Review 4/26
Color: Green
4/23/22 Shipping was as expected, the box was delivered via UPS and in good shape. 1 star After reading the reviews posted previously, I knew not to tighten any of the bolts prior to finished assembly. The fit was still a little iffy but it did the trick, all bolts lined up and it went together smoothly. Patience prevails. I always take the time to thoroughly peruse the parts list ensuring that everything is included: they were. Written instructions are ok - not great but ok as long as you are not in a hurry. Step 4 (for me) was a challenge as I'm a literalist. The lack of mentioning 'have the couch open, upside down - preferably elevated on a stool (etc) prior to attempting this step' threw me off a bit. Of course, looking at the illustration you clearly see the couch opened and oriented properly. Re-read the part about having the couch elevated on a stool or something else if you will be assembling by yourself. Thank me later :)1 star Overall, the assembly was fairly easy and took less than 30 minutes using the included tools. I do have power tools, etc however I prefer to offer a complete review. 2 stars UPDATE: 4/26 Leaving this review at 4 stars as, while it is comfortable at the moment, it may take a while to break in. The futon is 'as expected' for the price - it's quite firm and there is little give to the cushion(s). I will update after a couple of months of use. ... show more
