This mattress is being sent back tomorrow. I ordered the 8 inch mattress (as opposed to the currently offered 6 inch) because I wanted a bit more padding and support than my current futon mattress. Mistake. It was shipped in a bag which had a few cuts in it, (circled in red) exposing the mattress before I opened it. Not sealed seperately like every other mattress I've ever purchased. Whatever. Get it opened up and laid out, it's still slightly compressed, so I gave it a few hours before taking measurements. At the thickest part, it's barely over 6 inches. Everywhere else, not even 6 inches. Not to mention, this thing feels like a big pillow. My old worn out mattress currently has more support than this does, brand new out of... bag. So disappointed. Even if they were to advertise it as 6 inches, it's definitely not worth the $180. I'm trying to find a place to complain to Amazon about false advertising for the dimensions, because it seems lots of people are having the same issue. ... show more

I went from a 6 inch futon mattress to this 8 inch mattress and it truly is night and day. I just took a quick nap on it and unlike the old mattress where while sitting down in couch mode or bed mode I could feel the frame and cross bars. This new mattress with the extra 2 inches on top of the material it is made with makes for a more comfortable sleeping and or sitting I am very happy with the mattress and purchase 10 out of 10. I ordered the 8 inch herringbone mattress. The product specifications were 75 x 54 x 8, however, the actual measurements are 74 x 53 x 5, at best. The pattern is also not as depicted in the images provided. I can tell you the cover is also very thin. The filling is what I'm assuming is polyester with some weird brown spots. It arrived early, before the shipping timeframe provided, however it was not compressed or wrapped in plastic at all. It was folded in half, and then in half again, and secured with zip ties. It was obviously used. The box it arrived in was 39.5 x 27.5 x 24 - I had to turn it to even fit it through the door. The places where the zip ties indented into the mattress have not yet recovered. I'm hoping whoever had it previously and returned it didn't have bugs! I'm not sure if I received a completely different product, or if it's just false advertising and not as described. On the plus side, the product I received for the price I paid is not that awful. It is on the firm side and holds up tolerably well. I am a hefty person, weighing in at around 300 lbs, and have some back problems. It is comfortable enough to sit and sleep on. I can sit on it for several hours and not feel the futon frame through the mattress. It sinks in a little but does recover. It is also comfortable enough to sleep on overnight. When the side I'm sleeping on becomes depressed and I start to feel the frame through the mattress, I simply roll over to the other unused side. The next day I don't have stiffness and do have mobility. So that is a definite plus! I would say this is a good futon mattress for general use as extra seating or a spare bed for guests. If you have a frame with side arms, the smaller dimensions may actually make it a better fit. Adding a foam mattress topper may also make it more comfortable. I would recommend a non-slip futon grip pad or a yoga mat for use under the seating area. Overall, the product I received is not bad for what I paid. It's certainly functionable and usable. The lower rating is mostly due to the fact that I did not receive a new, unused product, and that it is not as described. ... show more

I'm going to still give a 5 stars review but when I measured the futon mattresses I bought (2) they were only 5 1/2" (ordered 8")...Amazon gave me a good discount for the mistake and all is well. They still get 5 stars because of quality and comfort of the item. I got it for my kids bunk beds and futon and sometimes I will go lay on their beds and I find it comfortable enough. ... show more

When I received it in the packaging it looked good. But after I unwrapped and placed on the futon and slept on it. The next morning it was flat and very uncomfortable. You can feel the bars of the futon in my back. The description of 8" on the packaging, but it was a little off and after sleeping on it was more like a 5". Even though some of prior reviews were good and some were not. It thought it would be great. Not GREAT at all. I was going to return it, but can't physically do it. DO NOT Buy this. What is the difference between memory foam and high density foam mattress: The mattresses made of memory foam are resilient and are more comfortable. But, the difference between high-density foam and memory foam is majorly in their ability to provide you comfort and a snug place to cuddle in.
