Blades work wonderful and the planer itself is a great tool. The only concern I ever have with these blades is that the two times that I have ordered them they have shipped them in large padded envelopes rather then a box. These are small thin blades and improper handling in that package form could easily cause them to be bent and render them useless. Additionally they are very sharp and if they worked their way out of the package could easily cut through the envelope and any hand that is touching them. The product itself though is what I am accustomed to in the DeWalt line of tools and works wonderful. ... show more

    • You need an extra set of blades on hand
Eventually, the planer blades either get dull or hit a nail and get nicked so you need a replacement set on hand. These are reversible, so once one side gets dull you can turn them around and use the second side. You just need to use the tool that comes with the planer and is stored on top. The tool is magnetized, so you can use it to remove the old blade and insert the new one, then replace the screws. The blades are sharp and long-lasting. ... show more

    • Planer works like brand new
I didn't realize how dull my planer blades were. Not apparent by inspection. I noticed the feed was slower and the wood was rotating when it was fed through the planer. I installed new blades and now the planer works like new. Feed is quick and straight again.

    • Very sharp but knicks easily
These blades are extremely sharp right out of the case. Fairly easy to install, just a bunch of screws holding them in and they are double sided so when they dull, you can just flip them over for a new blade. My complaint is that I feel like they get knicked very easily. I use my planer alot and am very thorough at inspecting the wood to make sure there are no nails when I run the boards through my machine but I have found that these blades seem to get dings and knicks in them just from running basic pine and oak which have knots. ... show more

    • Basic blade - WICKED SHARP!
I read quite a few reviews about the Freud blades being dull and Freud not caring. That surprises me because I've had goof luck with their products and their service. However, it worried me enough to stick with Dewalt for this one. It seemed like a no risk purchase. These blades are SHARP! I could tell immediately, by feel, but I also examined them with my loupe which I use when sharpening and learning. Even the square edges are insanely well machined. My planer's humming alone like it's brand new and extra blades allow me to send out for sharpening. I've yet to attempt to sharpen planer blades. The jointer is easy with a jig that I made, but to sharpen a 12" long blade would require two strips of sandpaper and another jig. Someday I'll get around to it. ... show more
