  • Very good , brushless .
I’m a Detaling professional boats and planes only ( I do Cars my own only ) I was going to buy a Makita again .. that was gold standard in the past but this one has “brushless “so I gave it a go and so far it’s going good. I’ve had it for over a year now and it’s doing its job fine no problems.. Strong enough , to handle what I throw at it . Works under load., and cord is strong . It might be a slight heavier than Makita, but no more brush to replace , that saves time and money and those are two things. I value a lot ! I strongly recommend an adapter, not the quick release the regular ones cheaper and works fine. You can unscrew it. You don’t need to have aI strongly recommend an adapter, not the quick release the regular ones cheaper and works fine. You can unscrew it. You don’t need to have a quick one . I use the one that you unscrew doesn’t wobble at all.. and it cost less a lot less. So you can use two sided wool pads for your cutting/ and leveling with a d/a to polish if you get any swirls or holograms, go slow if you’re new . For professionals, these are good. 👍🏼 I wish they made a really good battery operator one. I don’t know about their battery operated one. Yet this corded one is good 👍🏼 my battery once that’s well. That’s a different story for this one. It’s good. ... show more

  • Excellent tool with a few considerations
Bought this to polish our two cars - one is a traditional slick black paint and is 4 years old - the finish had lots of fine scratching from automatic car washing (no, I'm not the type to hand wash...I know it's better, but I just don't have the time). The other car is 6 months old and has a nice factory finish and I wanted to keep it bright and shiny. So far, this tool has done well. My brief observations are: The tool is heavy duty - it runs continuously with no problem and can handle reasonably heavy loads. I wouldn't quite call it commercial grade but it is very close to it. The average pro working on cars will unlikely tap the tool's potential. The tool does heat up after continuous use - it doesn't blow hot air from the cooling fan on the user, but there are a couple of metal spots on the body of the tool that get hot - the handles are fine but if you grab the body of the tool to set it down or pick it up, you won't get burned but it will get your attention. The soft start feature is nice, but there is one quirk: Pulling the trigger too rapidly causes the tool to overshoot the targeted RPM. When the spindle is just starting, the constant RPM feature appears to adjust input voltage or current to maintain the RPM based on the user's input into the trigger. Pull the trigger a little too fast and the tool ramps up the power rather fast - if the tool isn't under load, the spindle will spin too fast and gradually settle into the target RPM. This isn't a big deal as any reasonable user will find the modulation perfect for polishing - but if your finger slips or you accidentally goose the trigger while using it, the tool will respond with a big jump in power. That can catch you off guard a little if you don't anticipate it. The tool has some logic in it - the trigger is more "fly by wire" than a traditional trigger. That's a good thing, but you have to re-train yourself a little to get the most out of it. The tool is pretty quiet - it operates nice and smooth and at a reasonable sound level. Weight it a tad heavy - if you use it all day long there is a trade-off between weight and the durability of the tool. I think this one is just right for how it is positioned, but the average joe will definitely notice his/her arms if you use it for a few hours and haven't done so before. Not a big deal, but it is worth noting. The power cord is nice and beefy - no worries there. The wool/lint filter for the cooling air intakes is a nice touch. The nose end with the loop-style handle attached is a little tight when polishing around outside mirrors and a few other places, but overall the tool provides good clearances all around. I'm not familiar with similar offerings from Porter Cable, but it looks like there are only a few big names that make a comparable polisher - I wouldn't think you will be displeased with any of them. I have owned a number of DeWalt power tools over the years and this one is on par with the quality you expect from them, if not better. ... show more

  • Beats other buffer polishers!
I'll preface this by saying I don't have a ton of buffing experience, but at this point I've probably spent 40ish hours polishing with tools. I started a large polishing job (a 45' outrigger canoe) and was initially using a different brand to start the job. After a bunch of hours, I realized I'd like my own polisher to use at home. The DeWalt polisher works really well compared to the other brand I was using. The soft-start combined with the speed selector switch and the variable trigger is a great feature. The ergonomics are great, and it's easy to change the max speed with your thumb as you're working. It makes it easy to slowly ramp up the speed of the polishing wheel without flinging compound everywhere. One of the few cons is that some people might find this tool is big and heavy, so if you spend a lot of time polishing vertical panels it can be tiring. When you're working on horizontal surfaces, it just floats along without any trouble. At the end of the day, this tool got the job done and it was easy to use. I don't think I could pick up the old polisher I started the job with because it's nowhere near as good. Obviously, there are a lot of factors with polishing things, between pad types and polishing compound, so that is probably the bigger factor in doing a good job. But in terms of spinning a polishing pad around, this tool does the job well. ... show more

  • Top-Notch Dewalt Polisher Worth Every Penny
This Dewalt polisher truly embodies the saying, "You get what you pay for." While it may not be the most budget-friendly option, its quality justifies the cost. The impeccable construction and finish reflect superior craftsmanship. One standout feature is its weight - heavy enough to eliminate the need for manual pressure, allowing for effortless guiding. The pad size is just perfect, not too small or too large. Moreover, the heavy-duty electrical cord is sufficiently long, unlike cheaper alternatives with shorter cords that can be inconvenient. Overall, I highly recommend this polisher for its exceptional performance and design. ... show more

  • Professional-Grade Performance
I’ve used several polishers over the years, but this one stands out. The 7”-9” pad size covers large areas quickly, and the 0-3,500 RPM range lets me adjust based on the job. It’s well-built, durable, and the results are always flawless. Perfect for anyone looking for a high-quality tool.
