This cooler certainly ranks up with Rtic and Yeti in regards to quality and efficiency of keeps elements cool and preventing ice from melting. With this being said, lets be honest...I have tested both Yeti and Rtic coolers and have never found ice to last the full 5 days they market to everyone, but still can hold close to that amount of time which is way better than the old coolers where one was lucky enough to have ice last one day. This DeWalt cooler is no different and found ice to last about 4 full days (on par with the other brands). The durability is equal to these brands and at almost half the price it's clearly the better choice. In regards to weight....have a friend. This thing completely loaded with food, beverages, and ice is a beast to carry and no man/woman can carry it very far by themselves. If DeWalt can make an attachment of wheels that would be a tremendous add-on for them (as long as it's at the right price). ... show more

My guy loves this cooler. He uses it for a lunch box every day, and told me he was the envy of his co-workers. They were impressed his gf gave it to him for Christmas. However, I am impressed with its durability, which we discovered last night, when, after a few beers, he turned into a real tool and said mean, horrible things to me. As he took off on his bike, I threw the cooler over the fence as hard as I could. It landed on the concrete driveway, and I left it there, thinking either I had ruined it or it would be gone in the morning. I was fine either way. This morning, however, not only was the cooler still there, but after bouncing across the concrete forcefully, it had suffered only a scratch on the handle (photo). A sign? Perhaps. The owner of said cooler was contrite in light of day. The cooler, at least, can withstand anything. The gifter, not so much. Hopefully the cooler will not outlast the man. ... show more

I was searching for a cooler but did not know what to get UNTIL I stumbled upon the 10 Qt. Insulated Lunch Box Cooler by DEWALT. You can take this thing anywhere… from backyard barbecues, campgrounds, sporting events, and even the toughest job-sites imaginable. It ensures top notch temperature optimization, ice retention, and it even has a built in BOTTLE OPENER. Let me tell you something else… I was at our community Hopscotch Championship (15th Anniversary) and needed a stool (bleachers were being used by the local crocheting club) – this cooler could even withstand the weight of a full-grown man! Great size, easy too pack in truck and take out on jobs. It's federal safety yellow, easy to see for most people. We took it out of the truck to use as a prop. We had to lay a hinged base fibreglass pole down that goes into center of the street, very light traffic. We had just erected the pole and were just about to go get our ice chest out of the street when a guy in a truck ran over it. I yelled at him to stop and back up, it survived. He saw he never saw it, he must have been color blind. Federal safety yellow is bright. ... show more

    • There is some kind of flaw in the latches that allows them to break for no discernable reason.

The 10 qt cooler itself seems very rugged and it's perfect for my kayak. I can easily open and close it with one hand without having to turn around in my seat. But, after using it only three times, one of the latches broke while latching it. The latch wasn't stressed or strained and it just snapped in half for no discernable reason. After seeing other reviews with this same complaint, it seems like DeWalt would come up with a better quality latch and perhaps replace all of the old latches in a recall. I expected better quality with the brand and at the price. On a positive note, I called DeWalt and they are sending me a replacement latch at no cost. Perhaps they should make the latches out of aluminum or at least a sturdier or reinforced plastic. ... show more

Well constructed! Cam latches are neat. Easily holds eight 12 oz cans upright and enough blue ice to keep it real cold all day, if not longer??? By my measurements, it can hold 10.2 quarts of water without reaching the lid. Inside dimensions length*width are 11*6.5 near the bottom and 11.65*7 at the top and a depth of 8.22 inches. Outside length*width is 17.1 (handle) * 11 inches. What the heck do they mean by "chamber" dimensions? I agree the weight is exactly 7.95 pounds. The handle is a bit of overkill. A bit heavy for a 6-pack cooler but OK - that's what I expect from this kind of cooler. I like things that says DeWALT on them. ... show more

I was looking for a cooler to bring my insulin with us while traveling. I wanted something that would stay cool for days so we didn't have to search for places to buy ice. I found this cooler, read a lot of good and bad reviews, and decided to go for it. I bought this cooler and it sat in the room at our inn and didn't move, except to lift the lid when needed. One morning I got up to get my insulin and the rubber latch was broken in half, attached by a tiny portion that was left. That was pretty disappointing. Add that to the fact that we had to get ice every day because most of it had melted, and it was pretty much a complete failure. Remember, it sat in our air conditioned room nearly the whole time. Much cheaper (and lighter) coolers would have served the same purpose and would've lasted a lot longer. I'd suggest skipping this one. It was a pricey failure. ... show more

It’s a great lunch box, I use it every day for work and even In 90 degree weather it keeps my lunch cold. The only problem was the latch broke within the first week, but Amazon was helpful and it was replaced right away. The second one they sent me hasn’t broken yet.
