This rack and pinion lasted a few months before an o ring blew and power steering fluid gushed out. My mechanic replaced several o rings and each time something inside was causing the o ring to rip and leak power steering fluid. They said it is a defective rack and pinion. This is an expensive labor job. The seller only wants to replace and not refund money. They are only willing to refund money if it is returned within 30 days. This is a part that should last years. Why would I pay another $1,000 to install the same part and risk it becoming defective in a matter of months. Don't buy this cheaper rack and pinion to save some money as it will end up costing you a lot more than just buying a quality rack and pinion to begin with. I learned the hard way and will never buy another Detroit Axle part again. ... show more

I needed to replace the leaking rack & pinion on my 2012 Traverse. This was an exact fit and included both the variable assist steering and new tie rod ends. Because this is remanufactured, it's not new, but has all new seals in it. They gave it a fresh coat of paint, but they were a bit sloppy with the overspray. Overspray all over the rubber boots and inside the threads for some of the 10mm bolts, which made it more difficult to install. It included new O-rings, BUT... they were both the same size which is NOT what I needed. One of the hydraulic lines has a slightly larger, green O-ring. I'm glad I checked before installing it, or I would have had a leak. Instead, I reused the green O-ring and don't have any leaks. I paid a little extra to get new tie rod ends, which I was assuming would be the same style as OEM, but they are not. They were slightly longer, so they needed to be turned an extra 2 turnes to get close to properly aligned. Those deficiencies aside, it works great after finally bleeding all the air out of the system. Hopefully it will last another 150k miles. ... show more

Item came missing parts not as described, when I was able to install the rack and pinion, there was no warranty. it did not exist because the core was not sent back even after I requested address to send it back. Even now the power steering goes out. Before the concern was a leaking gear, now I randomly loose power assist. ... show more
