  • Poor Quality
Great price, good customer service, poor product. I noticed after they were installed the left front strut started making a clunking noise, much like the ones I had replaced. The mechanic checked and said there was no leaking but it was obvious the spring was moving when the steering was moved back & forth. He said it looked like it was a bearing was bad. He said he could change it out but to give it a month or two to see. A month later (now 2 months) the right one started failing. My mechanic said that both struts are bad and that the clunking will get worse. Detroit Axle said they would send two new ones that they would "guarantee" but when I asked if they were going to pay for my mechanic's time and trouble, he said they could not but they stand behind their product. I asked for a better solution, an upgrade or better line of struts, he said these were the only ones they made but they rarely have complaints. After discussing it with my mechanic, I decided to cut my losses and go with a top brand from the local auto parts. That way, if they failed again I am not out another $300 for mechanic bills. ... show more

  • Links are good, struts are crap
The sway bar links seem to be well made and worked fine. However the strut assemblies seem to have issues. The drivers side strut started making noise after about 75 miles of driving. The strut bearing failed, making a squeaking, popping sound. If you watch the strut spring and have someone move the steering wheel back and forth you can see the spring jump which indicates the bearings are bad. Probably over torqued at the factory in China. I was able to get a free replacement which has been fine so far after 3 weeks. However a few days after I installed the replacement strut, the passenger side started making noise and it's strut bearing has gone bad as well. It lasted a few hundred miles at least. I called again and was told that they were shipping a replacement strut and a return label for the defective one. 2 weeks go by and it hasn't shown up so I call and am told they had no record of me calling prior and that it was now a "warranty" issue and I would have to eat the shipping costs (about $60). They offered to lower my shipping costs down to $51 as a consolation for the confusion. I decided to cut my losses and get a Monroe one and see how it goes. I would save up and get a better quality set of struts if I had to do it again as the time loss of having to do everything twice isn't worth the savings. ... show more
