I was quite happy to finally get myself my first humidor, and do away with all the random zip-lock bags filed with cigar strewn on my dresser. I ended up learning alot about moisture levels,hygrometer calibration, humidor seasoning. I read a lot of people claim that the hygrometer this comes with is cheap and inaccurate. The hygrometer I got is not adjustable, i went through the calibration process(salt, water in a zip-lock) and after 12 hour it marked 75% consistently. The face is shiny brass-like plastic and glass; it looks very elegant(the digital ones that people "upgrade" with look like ass), its free, and it seemed to me to be quite accurate. The issues i had were with maintaining proper moisture levels(like so many others before me). I sealed the hygrometer with no-fume aquarium-safe silicone( like others suggested), but i also found that the glass top lid was letting a lot of the moisture out also(the glass could be moved back and forth in the lid frame pretty easily). It passed the "lid test" some people suggested(where if you drop the lid, and if you hear a woosh your humidor is air-tight) but clearly it wasn't air-tight. Since i had a lot of left over silicone i just sealed all the edges of the glass on the inside of the lid, and all the wood joints of the frame holding lid glass(there were some pretty large gaps). After both these fixes i finally have a beautifully functioning humidor, at a fraction of the cost. Pros Quite cheap in comparison to other options Looks great and very solid construction Cons Hygrometer seal wasn't air-tight Lid glass wasn't air tight("Sure Seal Lid Technology" my ass)

For the price it's great but it definitely needs some resealing. I caulked in all of the seams on the glass top and bottom and added a rubber seal to the lid and it worked great. The hygrometer is cheap and I don't know about its accuracy. I used it for my "medical marijuana" and kept it fresh as can be in colorado dryness.

The hygrometer is only partially installed, installed crooked, and has writing across the face of it that appears to be transfer from a sticker that is no longer on the hygrometer. I'm am reporting this issue in a moment and will report back as to how this goes. I've not been having the best of luck with Amazon exchanges of late. Otherwise the item is beautiful and had it arrived in tact, I'd have rated it much much higher. Take Two I received my replacement humidor. It has the exact same issue as the first. The really bad part about this is Amazon. While they did remove the item so others don't get a defective one as well, they've accommodated me not for my trouble. I've spent money on printer ink for printing my own return labels (why there was not one enclosed i don't know), gas to the local UPS store, packing tape, and general inconvenience. A different on-line retailer today replaced a defective item at No trouble on my part. They told me to toss (or keep) the defective item and they're rushing me a replacement one And that they made notes to check the replacement item to ensure it does not have the same problem as the first. What does Amazon do, they won't even refund me in a timely manner, or offer me a free Amazon Video rental (I'm a prime member). If this was my first experience like this, I'd not say anything. However, I've lost count of the number of items these past months that I've had to replace or purchase elsewhere. Somebody bring back my old good Amazon. This one sucks :( Take Three Having surgery Monday so don't have the time to find another humidor for my husband's Christmas present, so stupid me decided to order the model the next level down. The hydrometer was crooked again, BUT this time it removed easily and I was able to insert in correctly. I was about to decide that it was good enough (despite small flaws in the finish), when I noticed a deep scratch on the inside of the glass, along with some minor scratches. Heavy sigh - I give up. This will be my third trip in two days to return the same (or similar) item.

I received this humidor in the mail about a month ago so I have had time to view its performance over a short period of time. The box has a very nice look to it with dark wood and brass accents. Although I did take off one star simply because the hygrometer has a slight chip on the edge, and the engraving plate came scratched up. Right out of the box the scent of cedar is very potent, after salt testing the hygrometer, and seasoning the inside of the humidor with a sponge the humidor is ready to go. Using only distilled water for the small black humidifier, there was a large spike in humidity but this was to be expected. After about 2 days the humidity returned to about 68% and has stayed there perfectly throughout the month. Overall it is a beautiful box for a cheap price that gets the job done.

So far I really like this box. Good material, good solid construction. Like being able to see everything. The humidity gauge is actually very accurate on mine. I also have a digital meter and both have been showing same reading entire time. The analog does take a little time to move though so don't think it'll be immediate (which is absolutely fine). The fittings on the side are very nice and snug. Only complaint and positive at same time I have (and this isn't really a complaint) the latch is sometimes difficult to open. Definitly secure. Holds a decent amount of cigars. I have not used the supplied humidity thing (got a separate crystal one). Probably holds more if you use the supplied one but I read some reviews where it didn't hold humidty for long. No big deal for me since i"ve only got about 30 cigars at this time. They fit very nicely. the dividers could have been better but so far so good.
