  • Works great
Solved my starter heat soak issue from the new headers.

  • Great protection with headers
I've ran for years without this thinking my starter was good but what happens is that the plastic gets baked and crumbles which makes the starter useless. I installed this cover very easily and I know I won't have any problems. Starter and terminals are completely covered and heat from headers is no longer an issue. I installed on LS1 starter btw, great fit. It does have to be wrapped around one and a half times but easy to do ... show more

  • Perfect fit
Fits perfectly on a Chevy 350 in a 1972 Corvette stingray

  • On GM old starter it eliminated the no crank due to heat issue.
Why factory original starters work fine for decades but rebuilt and or said to be totally new material wise reproductions of old starter designs fail due to heat still a mystery to me. But this totally eliminated the problem of no crank issue of within 10 to 20 mins after engine shutdown after long drives. Or on really hot days with short or long drives. I feel the price is a bit steep that's why I put off buying one of these for so long. But now that I have one the saving me of stress makes the price worth it. ... show more

  • Decent but less than perfect quick solution for my application
Works very well for an "instant solution" type product. After about a season the foil begins to fall apart as it's very thin and flimsy. You could stick your own foil but that's sort of a pain. Anyway it works very well until it falls apart. I have two of them already and plan to stick on some of my own foil to get some more life out of them. The Velcro is pretty cool. I use them during autocross to prevent exhaust manifold & CAT temps from super-heating my intake tube leading to the throttle body. It helps to reflect a lot of the radiant heat and also deflects the hot air rising up from below. I've been too lazy to actually create a custom wrap for the intake so this has been a good stopgap solution. Spraying the material with water cools a little more but I suspect that this has helped to separate the foil even faster. DEI makes some pretty useful stuff and this is no exception. It's a little over-priced IMHO LOL. ... show more

  • Good Product but needs more velcro
Plenty of material to wrap starter and solenoid but needs more velcro surface for adjustment.

  • good replacement, good fit
My starter heat shield was missing (although the bracket it attaches to was still in place) and it was hard to find a new or used replacement for my '91 VW Cabriolet. Dealer said there's one that they could get out of the country but would cost over $100. So when I found the Versa Shield Heat Wrap I was happy with the price, but my concern was the fit and the if it would do the job of protecting starter & solenoid from heat. Both turned out to be good. For the size, the width was perfect but for the length I did end up trimming a little bit but that was okay since it was intended to work that way to be universal along with the velcro type of securing that was in the material as it was wrapped. ... show more
