Separating this into two sections, what's good, and what is not. What's good: 1) It is mostly wood, and it's quite heavy. 2) Plenty of places to put things like small appliances or something similar. 3) Island is a good size. What's not-so-good / bad 1) Shipping - shipper just dumped it on my driveway, not the "entryway" as described. **NOTE Amazon did their best to address this, and did to my satisfaction** 2) Absolutely no instructions or documentation stating what's included (the drawers are initially harder open because the knobs are screwed on the inside). There is one sheet of paper showing how to pull out the table. 3) Design Element is misrepresenting / lying about the "butcher block". I have enclosed what my butcher block looks like next to theirs. Theirs just a laminated style top that doesn't feel as heavy as it should. The pictures that Design Element show are VERY misleading - it's not even the same material, nor does it even look like the pictures they show. I cannot stress this point enough. My butcher block is on the left, and Design Element top is on the right. Notice my butcher block does not reflect like Design Element's material does. 4) Absolutely no support. I have reached out to Design Element about the butcher block and as of 12/29, I have not heard back. At this point, I don't expect to. 5) Island was a little wobbly, but was able to correct this. I believe one of the legs is a bit off. I know this is more of a nit-pick, but I thought I would mention it. Is this island worth the $1500 price tag? No, not at all. I'm keeping this due to the fact that I really cannot pack this back up and don't feel like having to reorder another island and possibly going through the same thing. Maybe that's what Design Element anticipates, since it appears they do not support their own product. Update 1/19/23 - Manufacturer never did respond to my issues. It's even difficult to find this on the Design Element website. - The top drawer will not come out. I'm afraid that it will break if I pull too hard. I'm still trying to figure out why it will not come out. The middle and bottom drawers work fine. I'm keeping this at two stars, but it's really more like one and a half star rating. ***Update 8/17*** I have been in contact with the manufacturer and they are willing to work with me on the drawer, but have washed their hands of the butcherblock. They have said it has never had a butcherblock and they would not be able to send replacement. I asked them since this was an expensive purchase and at this price point other manufacturers do include butcherblocks, if there was anything they could do instead. Excerpt from our communication: "We understand that you may be unsatisfied with the purchase. However, we can not provide anything besides the drawer for the one you are have having difficulties with." Their unwillingness to address the big item really disappoints me. ... show more

The countertop is *not* butcher block or even real wood. It looks very different from the photos in the product listing. We ended up returning the kitchen island.

It’s not real butcher block, pretty aggravated but can’t send it back. The rest is nice solid wood. Two of the drawers aren’t screwed to the track, they were just sitting in the hole and there’s paint damage on the front. Seriously need to consider adding a touch up pen for this. I will say it was packaged phenomenally well and delivery was a breeze. I hope the fake top last though. ... show more
