    • Unique and striking
I love Derwent products but wasn’t sure what to expect because of some of the less favorable reviews. I have other metallic watercolors ranging from Artsy (more of a student grade) to Finetec (the most pigmented) but the subtle, unique hues of this palette intrigued me. I’m so glad I got it. Yes, it’s not the most intense glittery in your face metallic watercolor palette out there and I love that about it for some of my artistic goals. Some of the hues are more heavily pigmented (pink, red, purple, blue) with the purple being the most intensely pigmented whereas others pack more intense shine (gold, pale gold, sunset, lime gold). The green is a mesmerizing turquoise hue and I adore the gold, blue lime and sunset hues, too. While some hues are more sheer and sparkly and others are more pigmented, they all showed up quite nicely on white watercolor paper. I can’t wait to test them on black paper. I’ll update this when I do. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone wanting a heavy glitter look but I love the more sophisticated sheen these hues provide and find many of them are a gorgeous complement to my existing palettes. ... show more

This is what they look like on white and black paper along with their lightfastness. Gotta admit the pink shocked me. I’ve never seen any pigment with such poor lightfastness before. Good for images that will be scanned I guess, or maybe a bullet journal. I found the pigment on white to be okay, but on black it seems a little thin. There isn’t much sheen either way when you move it around as compared to other metallic paints. Overall, not the best of their sets and not the best metallic paints. ... show more

Was hoping these were permanent when dry like many other Derwent products, and YES, they are! Vibrant color when dry. Used them over colored pencil drawing for enhancements and really like the effect. Wouldn’t do an entire huge painting with them…that would be too much for me. Haven’t tried it on black paper yet, but guessing they will be great there too. Derwent products have never let me down yet! ... show more

It’s okay. It goes on sheer. Use base color, let dry, then apply metallic paint.

I was so excited to receive this set of paints. Less so after using them. I'm a huge Derwent fan but these are not that impressive. They are nice enough but not for the price point. Not much metallic to be seen.
