My 3 cats started hating being brushed no matter what brush I used (even the glove). They shed so much that it looks like a snowstorm when you pet them! My eldest female started getting bad dander and started to get mats. After reading reviews, I decided to get this brush to see if it would help her. This brush gently took her mats out and she actually enjoyed being brushed again! She now is shedding minimally with a daily brushing (although she now asks to be brushed multiple times a day) I decided to use it on my 2 boys and they love it too! My bi-polar white kitty gets so excited and purrs so loudly as I brush him. I push the button a couple of times and the collected fur comes off in an oval pat for easy disposal. The slightly bent metal prongs have rubber tips over them for comfort. The handle is covered in a non slip rubbery material and is comfortable to use. 3 out of 3 kitties approve of this message! This is great. I wouldn’t say that I expect it to last for years, but it is priced very well for what you get. We have a shepherd/lab mix and she sheds A LOT. She also has super dry skin, so while this brush doesn’t soothe or calm her like some others, it does seem to penetrate deep enough to reach itchy spots on her skin. It’s so simple just pressing a button and the hair falling off. Can’t believe this isn’t the standard design for dog brushes. Only downside is the plastic is pretty cheap (so definitely keep away from your dog) and I don’t think it would be comfortable for cats or dogs with longer or potentially matted hair. Doesn’t seem tangle-friendly, but is definitely shed-friendly. ... show more

The retracting bristles do make for easy cleaning and it works as advertised. The downside is the bristles are not tough at all and somehow just using them on cat hair for a month several have already bent. When enough bend I imagine the retracting won't work anymore, so you do kind of have to baby this thing. For less than ten bucks it's worth it but I wish it were a little less "disposable" because I'm not sure there's a way to make this last for years in a typical household with animals. A harder steel would help because the bristles are less likely to snap than bend with the intended use. ... show more

    • very effective at removing hair, cat loves it, but doesn't collect all hair

Overall this is a great hair removal brush, and my cat loves it. I use this in combination with a stiff-bristle brush that she also loves. But the brush is something of a pain to clean the hair out of, and so I got this to make clean-up easier. For that it works great. The only problem I have with it is the bristles don't do as good of a job as the brush at retaining the hair. I usually have to follow up the slicker with the regular brush to get the last of the hair off her coat that the slicker loosened up but didn't take off. It's not a BIG deal, just don't throw away your regular brush. This isn't a replacement for it, it's just something to use first before doing a little bit of "clean-up" at the end. Also, these bristles are very stiff, so don't use a lot of force. I can usually get away with just a little more than dragging it over her coat (american short-haired) to get the tips all the way down onto her scalp. Only use as much force as you need to get down to the bottom, otherwise you'll probably start irritating their skin. Good brush, got one for my mom to use on her cat, and they also love it, so this review counts double! ... show more

I’m not sure how I’ve had cats all these years and never had one of these tools. I absolutely love it! Makes it super easy to brush and then push the button and voila the hair is gone right into the trash . I love love love it!

My cat NOW LOVES TO BE BRUSHED! HE WOULD LET ME BRUSH HIS HAIR FOR LIKE 5 MINUTES BEFORE, THEN STARTED BITING THE BRUSH, OR ME? NOW HE LET'S ME BRUSH ALL THE FLUFFY UNDERCOAT OUT OF HIM. I REALLY SEE A BIG IMPROVEMENT WITH FEWER HAIRBALL INCIDENTS! I DEFINITELY NEEDED THIS BRUSH!

This is great for our two adult cats who LOVE grooming time now! I bought this to take out excess hair from their coats to lessen the amount of hairballs they get, and even though they aren't long-haired cats, this works great for its purpose and cleans off caught hair like a charm! Our cats are fairly big (14-17 lbs) so I don't know if I would recommend this for smaller cats since the brush portion is pretty wide and just barely fits around to brush the cats' chest area and bellies. The bristles are also very stiff and may scratch and harm sensitive kitten skin since their fur isn't as thick as adult cats. Otherwise, I'm so glad I bought this! ... show more
