I use this product for applying fine detail work using Wolf Relief Wax (or similar low-temp red wax formulations). I set the temperature at ~230 degrees F and I'm able to drip tiny wax details onto my pieces. I use a battery powered hot pen (like matt wax or the thread zapper) for building up Ferris green or blue wax structures, but this electric pen is perfect for the tiny details that I add to those pieces. This tool + a Matt wax/Thread zapper pen are the best combo for me.

I have used this for a couple of years for jewelry lost wax casting wax preparation and it works nicely for detailing waxes and other low heat uses. Its barley hot enough for attaching wax models to a sprue base and the cords wear out within a year so be prepared to replace them but I like it and I use it every day. The tips provided are cheap but they work and can be bent into desired shapes. Its worth the money.

I am so disappointed with this cheap piece of crap. Do not buy it. The attachments barely hold together. And when they do they slide around. The heating unit is so light and floppy, and the attachments fall out all the time. You ll be lucky if the metal tips even get warm bcz they fall out all the time. I’ve used it three times and now it won’t heat up at all. Seriously, it’s junk!
